Scanned images of the text of the cover story published in the September 1989 issue of Saturday Night describes Eisenhower’s barbarism. Here is the truth.

Bacque tells the truth about how Eisenhower murdered thousands of German prisoners of war AFTER the surrender. Many of those starving soldiers and piles of dead bodies you have seen in atrocity photos were NOT Jews, they were Germans.

Don’t argue with me, read the book. General George Patton (who released all his German prisoners) wrote in 1945 that Eisenhower was using “practically Gestapo methods” in torturing and killing German POWs.

In August 1944 Dwight D. Eisenhower (who in the early 1960s ordered the assassination of Patrice Lamumba) and Henry C. Morgenthau came up with the Morgenthau Plan to inflict collective punishment upon the German people following the end of the Second World War.

This was, basically, a plan to starve millions of Germans, mostly citizens, to death.

Although the plan was officially cancelled, it was in fact implemented. Between 1945 and 1953 it is estimated between 9 to 15 million ethnic Germans were killed, mainly civilians.

Crimes and Mercies by James Bacque

**** Not an easy read, but rings true, sadly

I read about half the book, I have a hunch the author is indeed telling the plain truth, nothing more or less. While stationed in the US Army in West Germany in the mid-80’s, I learned enough German to talk to (among others) some older men who had been POWs. I was mildly baffled then by their differing accounts: one who surrendered in North Africa was profuse with praise and gratitude for his captors. A couple who were rounded up at the end of the war around the Main river were glad that West Germany had turned out so well under U.S. control, but made no bones about how hard their captivity had been. I thought “must be sour grapes, because we Americans always treat the captured enemy to cream cakes and chocolate” and so on. However, my commanding officer, an avid historian himself, also mentioned he’d heard of a lot of German POW’s dying at the end of the war. To make a long story short, there was a sort of whispered “oral tradition” in the US Army in Germany of stories passed from the old timers to the new guys about something pretty bad happening to the POWs in the Rhein-Main (confluence of two rivers) area. My father was the one who recommended the book to me. It is difficult going, because of so much attention to detail, etc., but the main thing is, it unfortunately corroborates with what I have heard from both German and U.S. sources. What to do? I think this episode is like that of slavery in the 19th century. We can’t undo what’s been done, but we can try to make sure we do better. And mostly we have, not one of the old Germans I talked to would have traded places with those who were captured by the Soviets.

***** Who are the good guys?

This shocking book shreds the notion of a higher moral authority most Americans take for granted as their legacy of victory in WWII. Mr. Bacque sifts through reams of Army records and exposes the cover-ups, obfuscations, and downright distortions perpetrated by Army high command in the heady days following Allied victory in Europe. He details General Eisenhower’s nearly pathological hatred of Germany and the German people and his systematic starvation and neglect of disarmed German soldiers and civilians. The death count is staggering, and the behavior of those in command, criminal. All the more so, because this type of spiteful retribution was unbeknownst and contrary to the will of the American people. The foreword is by Dr. Ernest F. Fisher, Jr. A retired Colonel, and senior historian for the U.S. Army

***** Well Documented Account of Deceit and Hypocrisy

It is unfortunate, but not surprising, that this book did not inspire more research into the subject of the maltreatment of German POWs (or perhaps it did, in which case I am simply not aware of it). I tend to think, however, that academia and the media–the two institutions which could have launched any number of investigations–preferred to let sleeping dogs lie rather than take a chance on the accuracy of Bacque’s work. After all, what if Ike really had a pathological hatred of Germans? What if tens of thousands of German POWs died–in peace time–as a result of systematic deprivation and neglect? “Other Losses” is a carefully researched book which marshals the facts and reaches its conclusions by an inexorable process of elimination. I notice that WizardManO offers nothing in his review to refute Bacque’s veracity. He merely calls him a revisionist (as if that resolves the issue) and expresses his regret that the book was allowed to be published. Watch out for book burners, by whatever name they call themselves!

***** An important examination of a hidden facet of WW II history

James Bacque came across this topic while writing a biography of a wounderful Frenchman, Raoul Laporterie, who had saved 1600 Jews during WW II. Discovering that Raoul had also saved two German POWs from slave labor, he got into this topic and, with the assistance of a U.S. Army Col./historian, researched this book. It examines the treatment of POWs and the employment of slave labor by the western Allies. Recently he has published “Crimes and Mercies”; using newly available sources and expanding the topic to the massacres of German civilians in the East and what he believes was a process of deliberate starvation of German civilians for two years after the war. The tolls he computes: 1.1M POWs killed; 2M forced laborers employed in the west; of 900K forced laborers held by the French (mostly POWs but also civilians), 300K dead; 2.1 to 6 M civilians massacred in the East, and “excess” deaths of 5.7 M civilians from 1945 to 1950. Is this possible? (This is important, these books have been attacked as fantasy or worse.) I believe that it is. A principal corroberative source I have is the experiences of relatives and family friends. My cousin Siegfried was captured at the end of the war. The day the war ended the treatment of the POWs went from correct to brutal. He was then sent to France as a forced laborer, and only survived because the major commanding his last camp told the men that he had been a POW for 5 years and had been treated correctly, and what was being done to them was a terrible crime, and that he would do everything to see that they survived. A family friend, formerly a Ford (US) executive and then with VW, was kidnapped out of his office and sent to France as a slave; his family had no idea what happened to him.Read more ›

Re: Was There A German Holocaust After WWII?
June 6 2006

Canadian James Bacque has written on the topic yet most give no credence to his claims. Some of what he states I know for a fact to be true, so I try to look at his other claims with a more open mind instead of dismissing them outright.

As soon as the Second World War ended in 1945, Canada and the United States began shipping food to the hundreds of millions of people who were facing starvation as a result of the war. Unprecedented in world history, this massive program fulfilled the highest ideals for which the Western Allies had fought. Their generosity seemed to have no limit. They fed former enemies — Italy and Japan — as well as a new enemy, the Soviet Union.

Only Germany was left out.

It is well-known in the West that the Allies hanged Nazis for crimes — the murder of Jews, the brutal mass expulsions, the deadly forced-labour camps, the starvation of entire nations. What is not generally known is that these occupying Allied armies carved off 25 per cent of Germany’s most fertile land and placed it under Russian and Polish control, forcibly expelling about 16 millions people into what remained. It has also been forgotten — or hidden — that the Allies forbade emigration and kept millions of prisoners in forced-labour camps. International charitable aid to Germany was banned for another year, then restricted for more than a year. When it was permitted, it came too late for millions of people.

In a plan devised by U.S. secretary of the treasury Henry C. Morgenthau Jr., the Allies “pastoralized” Germany. They slashed production of oil, tractors, steel and other products that had been essential to the war effort. They cut fertilizer production by 82 per cent. They undervalued German exports (which they controlled), depriving Germans of cash needed to buy food. And a large percentage of young male workers were kept in forced-labour camps for years. During the six months following the end of the war, Germany’s industrial production fell by 75 per cent.

The loss of so much fertile land and the drop in fertilizer supplies caused agricultural production to fall by 65 per cent. Sixty million people began to starve in their huge prison.

The mass explusions from one part of Germany to another, approved at the Allied victory conference in Potsdam in July and August, 1945, were enforced “with the very maximum of brutality,” wrote British writer and philantropist Victor Gollancz in his book, Our Threatened Values (1946). Canadian writer and TV producer Robert Allen, in an article titled “Letter From Berlin”, in Reading magazine (February, 1946), described the scene in a Berlin railway station as refugees arrived in late 1945: “They were all exhausted and starved and miserable…. A child only half alive… A woman in the most terrible picture of despair I’ve seen… Even when you see it, it’s impossible to believe….God, it was terrible.”

In the West, the plan to dismantle German industrial capacity began at the British headquarters of General Dwight Eisenhower in August, 1944. Meeting with Mr. Morgenthau, Gen. Eisenhower prescribed a treatment for Germany that would be “good and hard,” giving as his reason that “the whole German population is a synthetic paranoid.”

Mr. Morgenthau took a written version of their discussion to U.S. president Franklin Roosevelt and British prime minister Winston Churchill when the two met in Quebec City in September, 1944. British foreign secretary Anthony Eden, U.S. secretary of Cordell Hull and the U.S. secretary for war Henry L. Stimson all protested vigorously against the Morgenthau Plan because a pastoralized Germany could not feed itself. Mr. Hull and Mr. Stimson told Roosevelt that about 20 million Germans would die if the plan were implemented.

Most historians say the Morgenthau Plan was abandoned after the protests, but Mr. Morgenthau himself said it was implemented.

In the New York Post for Nov. 24, 1947, he wrote, “The Morgenthau Plan for Germany […] became part of the Potsdam Agreement, a solemn declaration of policy and undertaking for action… signed by the United States of America, Great Britain and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.”

I first happened on the outlines of this story while researching my 1989 book Other Losses, about the mass deaths of German prisoners of war in Allied camps. For 45 years, historians have never disputed a massive survey conducted over four years by the government of chancellor Konrad Adenauer, which stated that some 1.4 million German prisoners had died in captivity. What is still disputed by the two sides is how many died in each side’s camps. Each has blamed the other for nearly all the deaths.

The fall of the Soviet empire in 1989 provided a spectacular test of the truth: If the KGB archives recorded how many Germans died in Soviet camps, the world would know how many died in the West.

In 1992, I went to the KGB archives in Moscow, where I was permitted to troll the long, gloomy aisles, free to read and photocopy anything I wanted. And there I found the reports from KGB Colonel I. Bulanov and others showing that 450,600 Germans had died in Soviet camps. Given the figure of 1.4 million deaths, this meant that close to one million had died in Western camps.

In addition, the KGB records show that the Soviets had also imprisoned hundreds of thousands of civilians, of whom many thousands died.

This was the shadow of a greater tragedy, the fate of German civilians.

The recent declassification of the Robert Murphy Papers at the Hoover Institute in Stanford, California, and the Robert Patterson manuscript papers in Washington focused the picture. Mr. Murphy had been chief U.S. diplomatic adviser in Germany, and Mr. Patterson the secretary for war after 1945.

Some of Mr. Murphy’s papers show a catastrophic death rate in Germany, highlighted by a surprising comment by Mr. Murphy in discussing German demographics. He said in a State Department position paper in 1947 that the U.S. statistical projection of births, immigration and officially reported deaths showed that over the next three years the German population should be 71 million, but that “to be conservative and in view of the present high death rate in Germany, a figure of 69 million will be used.” In other words, Mr. Murphy was basing high-level U.S. policy on the knowledge that the actual German death rate was approximately double the rate officially reported to Washington by the U.S. military governor.

In the National Archives in Ottawa, I found a document seized by Canadians in 1946, showing a death rate in the city of Brilon in north-central Germany almost triple the total reported by the Allies for their zones of Germany in 1945-46. The U.S. Army medical officer in Germany secretly reported that the actual death rate in the U.S. zone in May, 1946, was 21.4 per 1,000 per year, or 83 per cent higher than the military governor was reporting to Washington.

These documents in Ottawa, Moscow, Washington and Stanford, recently revealed or long neglected, show that the Allies not only destroyed most major German industry, they also reduced German food production to the point that Germans received less food for long periods during several years than the starving Dutch had received under German occupation.

“From 1945 to the middle of 1948, one saw the probable collapse, disintegration and destruction of a whole nation,” These are not the words of a revisionist historian of the 1990s, but the sober judgment of a U.S. Navy medical officer on the scene. Captain Albert Behnke compared German and Dutch starvation: For months in parts of Germany, the ration set by the occupying Allies was 400 calories per day; in much of Germany it was often around 1,000, and officially for more than two years it was never more than 1,550. The Dutch always got more than 1,394.

And for his part in starving people in the Netherlands, Nazi commander Arthur Seyss-Inquart was hanged by the Allies.

A comparison of the German censuses of 1946 and 1950 show the effect of the food shortages. The 1950 census showed 5.7 million people fewer than there should have been according to the number of people recorded in the 1946 census, minus officially reported deaths, plus births and “immigrants” (people expelled from the east and returning prisoners) in the period from 1946 to 1950.

Mr. Murphy had, indeed, been conservative, partly because he underestimated the number of prisoners due to return to Germany from Russia. The total tally of unacknowledged deaths among the prisoners, refugees and non-expelled civilians comes to around nine million people between 1945 and 1950, far more than the number who died during the war itself. All of these deaths were surplus to those actually reported.

While Germans starved, the Canadian-U.S. relief program swung into action in other parts of the world. Former U.S. president Herbert Hoover, then chief food adviser to president Harry Truman, flew around the world assessing need and supply. He found big regions of food poverty, as there has always been and still are, but not insurmountable world food shortage. In fact, world food production in 1945, according to the U.S. government statistics, was 90 per cent of the average of the years from 1936 to 1938. By the end of 1946, it was virtually normal.

Mr. Hoover begged, borrowed and bought enough food from the few other surplus countries — Australia and Argentina — to feed nearly all the world’s starving. He congratulated Canadians warmly for their co-operation in a CBC speech in Ottawa in 1946: “To Canada flows the gratitude of hundreds of millions of human beings who have been saved from starvation through the efforts of this great Commonwealth.”

As Mr. Hoover pronounced victory over the greatest famine threat in world history, Germans were entering their worst year ever. In early 1946, reports of conditions in Germany led U.S. senators, among them Kenneth Wherry and William Langer, to protest against “this addlepated… brutal and vicious Morgenthau Plan.”

Belatedly, Mr. Truman asked Mr. Hoover to intervene. Mr. Hoover spoke to all North Americans: “Millions of mothers are today watching their children wilt before their eyes.” Infant mortality rates in some German cities were 20 per cent per year, catastrophically higher than the average in Germany before the war or in contemporary Europe.

Cases of tuberculosis among children in Kiel, in the British zone, increased by 70 per cent over the prewar period.

Mr. Hoover called for mercy to Germany.

“I can only appeal to your pity and your mercy…Will you not take to your table an invisible guest?”

Canadians and Americans set the table for the invisible guest.

According to prime minister Mackenzie King’s chief foreign-affairs adviser, Norman Robertson, Canada was the only country that had kept its food commitments to help the starving. Only in Canada did rationing and price controls continue long after the war so that others could be fed.

This unique campaign saved 800 million lives, according to Mr. Hoover.

Some older Germans treasure the memory of the “Hoover Speise” (meal) that warmed their bodies at school in 1947. Many millions — including hundreds of thousands of Canadians born in Germany — also remember their homes in parts of Germany now under Polish or Russian rule. None dreams of reparations; all yearn for us to know their story.

“The Morgenthau Plan for Germany … became part of the Potsdam Agreement, a solemn declaration of policy and undertaking for action … signed by the United States of America, Great Britain and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.” – New York Post (Nov. 24, 1947)

More than nine million Germans died as a result of deliberate Allied starvation and expulsion policies after the Second World War – one quarter of the country was annexed, and about fifteen million people expelled in the largest act of ethnic cleansing the world has ever known. Western governments continue to conceal and deny these deaths.

“Starting in April 1945, the United States Army and the French Army casually annihilated one million [German] men, most of them in American camps . . . Eisenhower’s hatred, passed through the lens of a compliant military bureaucracy, produced the horror of death camps unequaled by anything in American history . . . an enormous war crime.” – Col. Ernest F. Fisher, PhD Lt. 101st Airborne Division, Senior Historian, United States Army. The Morgenthau Plan:

“The Polish terror in the Ukraine today is worse than anything else in Europe. Ukraine became a country of desperation and destruction. The murderous deeds multiplied. The Germans have been tortured, mutilated, excruciated to death, their corpses were desecrated. Villages and palaces have been robbed, ignited, blown up. The depicted incidents in the official publication of the German government in 1921 exceed the worst actions one can imagine.” — Prof. Dr. René Martel in his book, Les frontières orientales de l`Allemagne (Paris 1930) about the Polish raids in Upper Silesia in 1921.

“We know that the war between Poland and Germany can´t be prevented. We have to systematically and energetically prepare ourselves for this war. The present generation will see that a new victory at Grunwald will be written into history´s pages. But we will battle out this Grunwald in the suburbs of Berlin. Our ideal is to chamfer Poland with borders along the Oder in the west and the Neiße at Lausitz and to absorb Prussia from Pregel to the Spree. In this war no prisoners will be made, there will be no place for humanitarian feelings.” — The censored, and closely to the Polish military dictatorship related newspaper Mosarstwowiecz (1930), three years before Hitler came to power.

“The millions of Jews who live in America, England and France, North and South Africa, and, not to forget those in Palestine, are determined to bring the war of annihilation against Germany to its final end.” (The Jewish newspaper, Central Blad Voor Israeliten in Nederland, September 13, 1939)

In the town of Saaz, thousands of German women were herded into huge barracks. As night fell, hundreds of Czech militia entered the barracks and picked out their victims, mostly young women. Whoever wanted to could rape them. For two whole weeks, night after night, this mass rape continued. Without decent food and medicines, babies and young children were dying at a rate of up to fifteen per day. Eventually, when the survivors were transported to Germany, they left behind around 2,000 of their dead. In Troppau, in Silesia, 4,200 German women and children were expelled back to Germany, a journey by rail, in unheated freight cars, that lasted eighteen days. When the train arrived in Berlin, only 1,350 were still alive

MARIJUANA SAFER THAN DRINKING WATER: Huff Post “You can Overdose On Water, But Not On Marijuana!” UPDATE: Hemp Oil Repairs DNA!

Here’s An Updated Tally Of All The People Who Have Ever Died From A Marijuana Overdose

The Huffington Post | By Nick Wing Posted: 01/03/2014 5:20 pm EST

With recreational pot now for sale in Colorado and widespread confusion over a recent satirical story that jokingly claimed 37 people had already died of a marijuana overdose, we figured it might be about time to update our weed death count.

So, here’s a picture that accurately shows all of the people who have died after overdosing on pot:

Yeah, not a single person has ever died from a weed overdose. We don’t have numbers on pandas, but we’re guessing it’s about the same. According to one frequently cited study, a marijuana smoker would have to consume 20,000 to 40,000 times the amount of THC in a joint in order to be at risk of dying.

Last summer, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the federal government wouldn’t intervene as Colorado and Washington state implement plans for a system of legalized marijuana for adults. The decision opened the floodgates for other states to pursue similar legalization efforts and outraged police groups apparently not excited to see a shift away from the failed war on drugs.

In a joint letter written to Holder at the time, law enforcement organizations warned that his move would lead to more crime, violence and even death.

While high driving may be a concern, Colorado, Washington and federal authorities have all taken steps to keep people off the road after using marijuana. The two states both have their own restrictions, and Holder said in his statement that the DOJ would still prosecute individuals or entities to prevent “drugged driving.”

The police groups also made a number of additional controversial claims that marijuana use itself leads to violent behavior, suicidal thoughts and interest in harder drugs. Scientific studies have not been able to prove this causation conclusively, however, and research has also suggested that THC has significant therapeutic value to patients suffering from cancer, AIDS or glaucoma.

None of this is to say that the nation doesn’t struggle with broader issues of drug and alcohol abuse and overdose. Drug policy reformers and activists gathered around the world last year to discuss the overdose epidemic. In 2010, overdoses were responsible for 38,329 deaths. Sixty percent of those were related to prescription drugs. In the same year, a total of 25,692 persons died of alcohol-induced causes, including accidental poisoning and disease from dependent use.

“The answer is zero. Cannabis does not affect the central nervous system. Not even water can make that claim.”

“Over hydration or drinking to much water kills several people in the US each year, Marijuana kills 0!”

ADMIN NOTE: According to the FDA and CDC, 100,000 people die per year (avg.) of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR).
These are medications that are FDA Approved and properly prescribed, according to the FDA and CDC.

So Drug policy reformers and activists call 38,329 overdose deaths in 2010 an epidemic, but completely ignore the over 2 MILLION serious ADRs, and 100,000 ADR DEATHS yearly.

Maybe they will ignore them, but the True Democracy Party…WON’T!

Water intoxication, also known as water poisoning or dilutional hyponatremia, is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside safe limits by over-hydration.

Under normal circumstances, accidentally consuming too much water is exceptionally rare. Nearly all deaths related to water intoxication in normal individuals have resulted either from water drinking contests in which individuals attempt to consume large amounts of water, or long bouts of intensive exercise during which electrolytes are not properly replenished, yet huge amounts of fluid are still consumed.[1] Moreover, water cure, a method of torture in which the victim is forced to consume excessive amounts of water, can cause water intoxication. – WIKIPEDIA

Water, just like any other substance, can be considered a poison when over-consumed in a specific period of time. Water intoxication mostly occurs when water is being consumed in a high quantity without giving the body the proper nutrients it needs to be healthy.[2]

Colorado Marijuana Sales Surpass $1 Million On First Day: Shop Owners

The Huffington Post | By Andrea Rael Posted: 01/03/2014 2:44 pm EST

Call it “Green Wednesday.”

Pot shop owners in Colorado claim they made over $1 million in sales statewide on the first day of legalized recreational marijuana sales alone, according to Denver’s 9News. Nationwide, the legalized pot industry is expected to bring in a reported $2.34 billion in 2014, including both medical and recreational sales.

Most of the 24 shops that opened Wednesday were in Denver. Owners in the city expressed concern about taking in large amount of cash, since federal banking regulations currently prohibit banks from working with the marijuana industry while the drug remains classified as illegal by the federal government.

“We all know this needs to be fixed because there is not one good reason why these businesses are not allowed to have banking accounts — only bad reasons: security concerns and accountability concerns,” Mike Elliott, executive director of the trade association Medical Marijuana Industry Group, told KDVR.

A solution may soon be reached, but while the industry grapples with how to handle its cash, Colorado is banking on pot: with an eighth of an ounce currently selling between $35 and $70 after taxes, the state estimates that the retail marijuana industry will bring in $67 million in tax revenue.

The first $40 million generated by the state excise tax is dedicated to school construction, and the rest is slated for marijuana regulation.

DNA Green-

By Becca Wolford –

Did you know that DNA can be damaged…and repaired?

DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is the hereditary material found in humans, animals, and organisms. DNA is in every cell in our bodies. Each cell’s nucleus has DNA, which is rolled into structures that are our chromosomes (23 pairs).

“Most genes contain the information needed to make functional molecules called proteins. (A few genes produce other molecules that help the cell assemble proteins.) The journey from gene to protein is complex and tightly controlled within each cell. It consists of two major steps: transcription and translation. Together, transcription and translation are known as gene expression.

During the process of transcription, the information stored in a gene’s DNA is transferred to a similar molecule called RNA (ribonucleic acid) in the cell nucleus. Both RNA and DNA are made up of a chain of nucleotide bases, but they have slightly different chemical properties. The type of RNA that contains the information for making a protein is called messenger RNA (mRNA) because it carries the information, or message, from the DNA out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm.” [1]

The genes direct protein production. For example, a protein (a long chain of amino acids) can be an enzyme that triggers a certain chemical reaction in the body. One function of protein is to boost the immune system.

There are many factors that cause damaged DNA : oxidation, UV radiation from the sun, radiation from Xrays, viruses, plant toxins, and man-made chemicals (chlorine, hydrocarbons, smoke, pollution, to name a few). Some results of damaged DNA are: premature aging, cancer, diabetes mellitus (diabetes itself may cause DNA damage), Parkinson’s, Alzheimers, chronic fatigue syndrome, and many other conditions.

Cells cannot function properly if the DNA is damaged. However, the cells CAN, through chemical processes, reverse the damage themselves.

Hempseed and hempseed oil have been found to be a factor in DNA repair. Hemp has the perfect 3:1 ratio of Omega fatty acids (Omega 3 and Omega 6) needed by the human body. One ‘job’ of Omega 3 is cellular repair. Hemp is 65% protein, 35% of which is globulin edestin protein. It is the protein that is closest to human globulin, and is very easily digestible by the body.

The protein is a major factor in DNA repair, as the cells use that protein to correct the DNA damage.

Because hemp is the highest source of Edestin protein [2], AND is responsible for boosting the immune system, it is a perfect addition to the the diet.

The first question healthcare providers should ask themselves is “why is it important to learn about ADRs?” The answer is because ADRs are one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in health care. The Institute of Medicine reported in January of 2000 that from 44,000 to 98,000 deaths occur annually from medical errors.1 Of this total, an estimated 7,000 deaths occur due to ADRs. To put this in perspective, consider that 6,000 Americans die each year from workplace injuries.

However, other studies conducted on hospitalized patient populations have placed much higher estimates on the overall incidence of serious ADRs. These studies estimate that 6.7% of hospitalized patients have a serious adverse drug reaction with a fatality rate of 0.32%.2 If these estimates are correct, then there are more than 2,216,000 serious ADRs in hospitalized patients, causing over 106,000 deaths annually. If true, then ADRs are the 4th leading cause of death—ahead of pulmonary disease, diabetes, AIDS, pneumonia, accidents, and automobile deaths.

These statistics do not include the number of ADRs that occur in ambulatory settings. Also, it is estimated that over 350,000 ADRs occur in U.S. nursing homes each year.3 The exact number of ADRs is not certain and is limited by methodological considerations. However, whatever the true number is, ADRs represent a significant public health problem that is, for the most part, preventable.

Committee on Quality of Health Care in America: Institute of Medicine

* Drug-related morbidity and mortality is $136 billion

* One out of 5 injuries or deaths per year to hospitalized patients

* 100% increase in length of stay, cost and mortality has been reported for hospitalized patients

What are the health care costs associated with adverse drug reactions?

Again, methodological constraints limit making completely accurate estimates, but one estimate of the cost of drug-related morbidity and mortality is $136 billion annually,1 which is more than the total cost of cardiovascular or diabetic care in the United States. In addition, one out of 5 injuries or deaths per year to hospitalized patients may be as a result of ADRs.2 Finally, a two-fold greater mean length of stay, cost and mortality has been reported for hospitalized patients experiencing an ADR compared to a control group of patients without an adverse drug reaction.

* Two thirds of patient visits result in prescriptions

* 2.8 Billion prescriptions (10 per person in the U.S. in 2000

* ADRs increase exponentially with 4 or more medications

Why are there so many ADRs? There are many reasons. Here are just a few.

First, more drugs—and many more combinations of drugs—are being used to treat patients than ever before. To exemplify this point, 64% of all patient visits to physicians result in prescriptions.1

Secondly, 2.8 billion prescriptions were filled in the year 2000. 2 That is about 10 prescriptions for every person in the United States.

Finally, the rate of ADRs increases exponentially after a patient is on 4 or more medications.3

Efforts to reduce polypharmacy are important but for many patients, the number of medications cannot always be reduced without doing harm. That is why it is important to understand the basis for drug interactions. This will allow us to make the most appropriate choices in prescribing and avoiding preventable ADRs.

Adverse Drug Reactions

How Serious Is the Problem and How Often and Why Does It Occur?

Although some adverse drug reactions (ADR) are not very serious, others cause the death, hospitalization, or serious injury of more than 2 million people in the United States each year, including more than 100,000 fatalities. In fact, adverse drug reactions are one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Most of the time, these dangerous events could and should have been avoided. Even the less drastic reactions, such as change in mood, loss of appetite, and nausea, may seriously diminish the quality of life.

Despite the fact that more adverse reactions occur in patients 60 or older, the odds of suffering an adverse drug reaction really begin to increase even before age 50. Almost half (49.5%) of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reports of deaths from adverse drug reactions and 61% of hospitalizations from adverse drug reactions were in people younger than 60.2 Many physical changes that affect the way the body can handle drugs actually begin in people in their thirties, but the increased prescribing of drugs does not begin for most people until they enter their fifties. By then, the amount of prescription drug use starts increasing significantly, and therefore the odds of having an adverse drug reaction also increase. The risk of an adverse drug reaction is about 33% higher in people aged 50 to 59 than it is in people aged 40 to 49.3, 4

** Adverse Reactions to Drugs Cause Hospitalization of 1.5 Million Americans Each Year **
An analysis of numerous studies in which the cause of hospitalization was determined found that approximately 1.5 million hospitalizations a year were caused by adverse drug reactions.1 This means that every day more than 4,000 patients have adverse drug reactions so serious that they need to be admitted to American hospitals.

A review of patients admitted to medical wards of a hospital found that although for 3.8% of hospital admissions, adverse drug reactions led directly to hospitalization, 57% of these adverse drug reactions were not recognized by the attending physician at the time of admission. As in numerous other studies, many of these admissions should have been prevented. In fact, 18.6% of all drugs prescribed prior to admission were contraindicated.5

Another review of studies of the percentage of hospital admissions related to adverse drug reactions found that up to 88% of ADR-related hospitalizations in the elderly are preventable. In addition, elderly people were four times more likely to be hospitalized by ADR-related problems than nonelderly.6

Although the rate of drug-induced hospitalization is higher in older adults (an average of about 10% of all hospitalizations for older adults are caused by adverse drug reactions) because they use more drugs, a significant proportion of hospitalizations for children are also caused by adverse drug reactions.

A recent review of all studies concerning the reasons for pediatric hospitalization (children under the age of 19) found that 2.09% of all pediatric hospitalizations were caused by adverse drug reactions and that 39% of these were life-threatening.7 Using the most recent published data on pediatric hospitalizations,8 there were 3.8 million children under the age of 19 hospitalized in the United States in 1997. This means that in one year, there are 79,000 children (2.09% x 3.8 million children) admitted to the hospital because of adverse drug reactions, 31,000 of these children having life-threatening adverse reactions.

** Adverse Reactions as a Major Cause of Emergency Room Visits **
A recent review of studies concerning the causes of people going to hospital emergency rooms found that as many as 28% of all emergency department visits were drug-related, including a large proportion due to adverse drug reactions and inappropriate prescriptions. Of all of the drug-related visits, the authors found that 70% were preventable.9

** Adverse Reactions Occur During Hospitalization to 770,000 People a Year **
In addition to the 1.5 million people a year who are admitted to the hospital because of adverse drug reactions, an additional three-quarters of a million people a year develop an adverse reaction after they are hospitalized. According to national projections based on a study involving adverse drug reactions developing in patients in the hospital, 770,000 additional patients a year—more than 2,000 patients a day—suffer an adverse event caused by drugs once they are admitted. Many of the reactions in the patients studied were serious, even life-threatening, and included cardiac arrhythmias, kidney failure, bleeding, and dangerously low blood pressure. People with these adverse reactions had an almost twofold higher risk of death compared to other otherwise comparable hospitalized patients who did not have a drug reaction. Most important, according to the researchers, almost 50% of these adverse reactions were preventable. Among the kinds of preventable problems were adverse interactions between drugs that should not have been prescribed together (hundreds of these are listed in the Drug-Induced Diseases section of this web site), known allergies to drugs that had not been asked about before the patients got a prescription, and excessively high doses of drugs prescribed without considering the patient’s weight and kidney function.10

Thus, adding the number of people with adverse drug reactions so serious that they require hospitalization to those in which the adverse reaction was “caused” by the hospitalization, more than 2.2 million people a year, or 6,000 patients a day, suffer these adverse reactions. In both situations, many of these drug-induced problems should have been prevented.

** Dangerous Prescribing Outside the Hospital for 6.6 Million Older Adults a Year **
Based on the Do Not Use principle we have advocated concerning certain drugs for more than 16 years in our Worst Pills, Best Pills books, web site, and monthly newsletter, several published studies have examined the extent to which people are prescribed drugs that are contraindicated because there are safer alternatives. One study, whose authors stated that “Worst Pills, Best Pills stimulated this research,” found that almost one out of four older adults living at home—6.6 million people a year—were prescribed a “potentially inappropriate” drug or drugs, placing them at risk of such adverse drug effects as mental impairment and sedation, even though the study only examined the use of a relatively short list of needlessly dangerous drugs (fewer than the number listed as Do Not Use drugs on this site).11

Other researchers looked not only at people for whom a contraindicated drug was prescribed, but also at prescriptions for older people involving two other categories: questionable combinations of drugs and excessive treatment duration. The authors categorized all of this as “high-risk prescribing” and limited their analysis to just the three classes of drugs most commonly causing drug-related illness: cardiovascular drugs, psychotropic drugs (ones that act on the mind) such as tranquilizers and antidepressants, and anti-inflammatory drugs. They found that 52.6% of all people 65 or older were given one or more prescriptions for a high-risk drug.12 Thus, more than twice as many older adults were the victims of high-risk prescribing when these two additional categories were added.

** Nine Reasons Why Older Adults Are More Likely Than Younger Adults to Have Adverse Drug Reactions **

Many of the studies and much of the information concerning the epidemic of drug-induced disease focuses on people 60 and over. As we have mentioned previously, some of the changes that eventually lead to great numbers of adverse reactions in older adults (in combination with increased drug use) really begin to occur in the mid-thirties. In connection with the idea that drug-induced disease begins to get more common before age 60, it is interesting to note that in a number of studies comparing the way “older” people clear drugs out of the body with the way younger people do, the definition of older is above 50, and younger is below 50.3

Smaller Bodies and Different Body Composition: Older adults generally weigh less and have a smaller amount of water and a larger proportion of fat than younger adults. Body weight increases from age 40 to 60, mainly due to increased fat, then decreases from age 60 to 70, with even sharper declines from 70 on. Therefore, the amount of a drug per pound of body weight or per pound of body water will often be much higher in an older adult than it would be if the same amount of the drug were given to a younger person. In addition, drugs that concentrate in fat tissue may stay in the body longer because there is more fat for them to accumulate in.

Decreased Ability of the Liver to Process Drugs: Because the liver does not work as well in older adults, they are less able than younger people to process certain drugs so that they can be excreted from the body. This has important consequences for a large proportion of the drugs used to treat heart conditions and high blood pressure, as well as many other drugs processed by the liver. The ability of the body to rid itself of drugs such as Valium, Librium, and many others is affected by this decrease in liver function.

Decreased Ability of the Kidneys to Clear Drugs Out of the Body: The ability of the kidneys to clear many drugs out of the body decreases steadily from age 35 to 40 on. By age 65, the filtering ability of the kidneys has already decreased by 30%. Other aspects of kidney function also decline progressively as people age. This has an effect on the safety of a large number of drugs.

Increased Sensitivity to Many Drugs: The problems of decreased body size, altered body composition (more fat, less water), and decreased liver and kidney function cause many drugs to accumulate in older people’s bodies at dangerously higher levels and for longer times than in younger people. These age-related problems are further worsened by the fact that even at “normal” blood levels of many drugs, older adults have an increased sensitivity to their effects, often resulting in harm. This is seen most clearly with drugs that act on the central nervous system, such as many sleeping pills, alcohol, tranquilizers, strong painkillers such as morphine or pentazocine (TALWIN), and most drugs that have anticholinergic effects (see Anticholinergic in the Glossary). This latter group includes antidepressants, antipsychotic drugs, antihistamines, drugs used to calm the intestinal tract (for treating ulcers or some kinds of colitis) such as Donnatal, atropine, and Librax, antiparkinsonian drugs, and other drugs such as Norpace. Institutional Corruption: Pharmaceuticals and the Drug Safety Myth
November 30, 2013

“Institutional corruption” does not refer to any violation of existing rules or laws. Rather it refers to “a certain kind of influence, within an economy of influence, that has a certain effect”

* An activity is considered institutional corruption if it weakens the effectiveness of an institution, and/or weakens public trust in that institution. Institutional corruption is rife within the pharmaceutical industry and its regulatory agencies.

* The consequences of institutional corruption include millions of adverse reactions each year, and at least 128,000 deaths as a direct result of adverse drug reactions within the hospital setting alone.

* When deaths related to diagnostic errors, errors of omission, and failure to follow guidelines are included, the number skyrockets to an estimated 440,000 preventable hospital deaths each year.
– That makes preventable medical errors the third-leading cause of death in the US, right after heart disease and cancer, and hospital-based lethal adverse drug reactions are the fourth leading cause of death.

healthcare money2

I’ve highlighted the fact that the pharmaceutical industry is responsible for nearly 20 percent of corporate crime in a number of previous articles.

Here, I want to draw your attention to an excellent article1, 2 on the institutional corruption of pharmaceuticals, published in the Journal of Law, Medicine and Ethics. It’s well worth reading in its entirety if you have an interest in this topic.

This term, “institutional corruption,” does not refer to any violation of existing rules or laws. Rather it refers to “a certain kind of influence, within an economy of influence, that has a certain effect,” as explained the Cambridge lecture above. As presented in the video, an activity is considered institutional corruption if it:

Weakens the effectiveness of an institution, and/or
Weakens public trust in that institution

The lecture series was sponsored by the Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics at Harvard, which also published the featured article on this topic, written by Donald W. Light, Joel Lexchin, and Jonathan J. Darrow. They write:3

“Institutional corruption is a normative concept of growing importance that embodies the systemic dependencies and informal practices that distort an institution’s societal mission.

An extensive range of studies and lawsuits already documents strategies by which pharmaceutical companies hide, ignore, or misrepresent evidence about new drugs; distort the medical literature; and misrepresent products to prescribing physicians.

We focus on the consequences for patients: millions of adverse reactions. After defining institutional corruption, we focus on evidence that it lies behind the epidemic of harms and the paucity of benefits…

If “corruption” is defined as an impairment of integrity or moral principle, then institutional corruption is an institution’s deviation from a baseline of integrity.”

Lack of integrity is indeed different from outright violation of law, which is a punishable crime. Avoidance of “moral principle,” while not illegal per se, is still a very serious concern—if nothing else for the very real harm it produces. This is true in most situations, but it’s particularly heinous when it is the modus operandi of those who wield the greatest power over your health care.

*** The Three Levels of Institutional Corruption ***

* The authors assert that, within the pharmaceutical industry, institutional corruption occurs at three different levels:

1) Lobbying efforts and political contributions. This way, the pharmaceutical industry has influenced the US Congress to enact legislation that has severely undermined the stated mission and function of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

2)Through the application of industry pressure, “Congress has underfunded FDA enforcement capacities since 1906, and turning to industry-paid “user fees” since 1992 has biased funding to limit the FDA’s ability to protect the public from serious adverse reactions to drugs that have few offsetting advantages,” according to the authors.

3)Commercializing the role of doctors, undermining their position as “independent, trusted advisers to patients.”

As stated in the featured article, the health care system is founded on the moral principle that a doctor, first, will do no harm. The principle of not harming the patient is explicit in the Hippocratic Oath,4 one of the oldest binding documents in history. Under that moral edict, the duty of any health care worker is, first and foremost, to treat illness using the best medical knowledge and science available, and to carefully assess the risks of harm.

“The institutional corruption of health care consists of deviations from these principles,” the featured article states.

Unfortunately, the system in operation today has strayed quite far from this high moral ground. In fact, it has strayed so far that, today, the medical establishment as a whole is one of the leading causes of death!

According to the most recent research5 into the cost of medical mistakes in terms of lives lost, 210,000 Americans are killed by preventable hospital errors each year. When deaths related to diagnostic errors, errors of omission, and failure to follow guidelines are included, the number skyrockets to an estimated 440,000 preventable hospital deaths each year. That makes medical errors the third-leading cause of death in the US, right after heart disease and cancer.

If we limit it to adverse drug reactions alone, the featured article6 tells us that 2.7 million Americans experience a serious adverse drug reaction while hospitalized each year. Of those, an estimated 128,000 die as a direct result of the adverse reaction. According to those statistics, hospital-based adverse drug reactions alone are the fourth leading cause of death in the US.

Sadly, a majority of healthcare workers observe mistakes made by their peers yet rarely do anything to challenge them. This too falls into the discussion in the featured video. In it, it is argued that if you have the ability to right a wrong, but do not, are you not also responsible for the outcome? In essence, part of the problem of institutional corruption is not simply “bad people doing bad things,” but “good people looking the other way.”

*** Do Pharmaceutical Companies Have a Moral Duty to Do No Harm? ***

According to the featured article:

“The major patent-based research pharmaceutical companies also nominally commit themselves to improving health and relieving suffering… But in fact, these companies are mostly developing drugs that are mostly little better than existing products but have the potential to cause widespread adverse reactions even when appropriately prescribed. This deviation from the principles of health care by institutions allegedly dedicated to health care is institutional corruption.

We present evidence that industry has a hidden business model to maximize profits on scores of drugs with clinically minor additional benefits. Physician commitment to better health is compromised as the industry spends billions to create what Lessig calls a “gift economy” of interdependent reciprocation.”

Contrary to popular belief and corporate sob-stories bewailing the high cost of innovation, pharmaceutical companies devote a miniscule 1.3 percent of their revenues to research and development (R&D) of new drugs. Furthermore, pharmaceutical companies’ revenues have climbed six times faster than their investment in R&D over the past 15 years. Meanwhile, an average of 25 percent of revenues is spent on advertising and promotion of “new” drugs that are no better than their predecessors. So much for the claim that R&D costs are becoming increasingly “unsustainable.”

What’s really unsustainable is the industry’s blatant disregard for patients’ health and well being… Most new drugs offer minor clinical advantages over preexisting drugs at best, and no advantage but greater risks, at worst. For the past 35 years, very few drugs created represent any true advancement in drug therapy. According to the three authors, multiple reviews conducted between the mid-1970’s to the mid-1990’s have found that only 11 to 15.6 percent of new molecular entities (NMEs) created provide any kind of “important therapeutic gain.” According to the featured article:

“The independent drug bulletin, La revue Prescrire, analyzes the clinical value of every new drug product or new indication approved in France. From 1981 to 2001, it found that about 12 percent offered therapeutic advantages. But in the following decade, 2002-2011… only 8 percent offered some advantages and nearly twice that many—15.6 percent—were judged to be more harmful than beneficial. A mere 1.6 percent offered substantial advantages.” [Emphasis mine]

They note that similar findings have also been made by the Canadian advisory panel to the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board, and by a Dutch general practice drug bulletin. Interestingly enough, the US has not conducted any such review. Remarkably, studies have revealed that one in every five new drugs ended up causing such serious harm that they eventually received a severe warning label or were withdrawn from the market.

“Of priority drugs that were reviewed in slightly more than half the normal time, at least one in three of them caused serious harm,” the featured article states… [E]vidence suggests that commercial distortions of the review process and aggressive marketing contribute to both undermining beneficence as health care’s raison d’être and to the epidemic of harm to patients.”

*** Conflicts of Interest and Institutional Corruption Within the FDA ***

Just over two decades ago, in 1992, Congress passed the Prescription Drug User Fee Act (PDUFA), and from that moment on, the FDA was set squarely on the path toward doing more harm than good. The act authorizes the FDA to collect “user fees” from drug companies in order to increase the speed by which it can conduct drug reviews. A standard drug application must now be completed within 12 months of submission, compared to as much as 30 months prior to PDUFA. Priority applications must be completed within six months. Since the FDA began collecting user fees from the very industry it was intended to regulate, approved drugs have become increasingly dangerous. According to the featured article:

“Shortened review times led to substantial increases in serious harms. An in-depth analysis found that each 10-month reduction in review time—which could take up to 30 months—resulted in an 18.1-percent increase in serious adverse reactions, a 10.9-percent increase in hospitalizations, and a 7.2-percent increase in deaths.” [Emphasis mine]

*** Can Institutional Integrity Be Restored to Produce Safer Drugs? ***

There are ways to correct this fatally flawed system. Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is at this point so enmeshed with our political structure, the US government may as well be viewed as a hybrid corporate-run entity, presenting a façade of concern toward the public but being none-too-confused about whom they’re really serving, namely industry. The featured article presents five strategies that would “reduce conflicts of interest and improve the safety and effectiveness of drugs,” should politicians and Americans at large decide that enough is enough:

* Research companies should have no part in testing the drugs they’ve developed. What’s called for is an independent institute to conduct drug studies.
* The FDA must restore public trust by taking a renewed leadership role focused on drug safety. Part of this includes simply enforcing its currently existing rules, which are all-too-frequently ignored.
* User fees must be eliminated. The FDA must be wholly funded by taxpayers-as-consumers, in order to clarify whom it serves and eliminate conflicts of interest with industry.
* Approval criteria for new drugs should include evidence of superiority over existing drugs and be of relevance to the patient
* Congress needs to create a National Drug Safety Board “with adequate powers, funds, and mandates to independently investigate and report on drug safety issues,” and provide open access to all data. This would go a long way toward reestablishing the public’s trust.

*** Proof that “Science-Based” Medicine is Disintegrating ***

If we continue allowing Big Pharma to live and operate on moral low ground, you really don’t need supernatural powers to predict what the future will bring. History is full of examples of how far they will go to make a buck. Criminal corruption has reached pandemic levels within the industry already. In fact, it seems to be more of an unspoken rule than the exception.

Peter Gøtzsche, head of the Nordic Cochrane Centre (which is considered the gold standard in terms of independent research reviews), goes so far as to compare the pharmaceutical industry to an organized crime ring in his book, Deadly Medicines and Organized Crime: How Big Pharma Has Corrupted Healthcare.

“Besides peddling drugs known to be more dangerous than advertised, drug companies are also in large part responsible for the decimation of the very core of medical science, since they fund a great deal of the research. The source of funding has been shown to have a tremendous impact on the results of any study.”

According to data from Thomson Reuters,7 the number of retractions of scientific studies have increased more than 15-fold since 2001, and a review8 published just last year showed that nearly 75 percent of all retracted drug studies were attributed to “scientific misconduct,” which includes:

* Data falsification or fabrication
* Questionable veracity
* Unethical author conduct
* Plagiarism

Corruption of science is incredibly serious, as health care professionals rely on published studies to make treatment recommendations, and large numbers of patients can be harmed when false findings are published. The average lag time between publication of the study and the issuing of a retraction is 39 months. And that’s if the misconduct is ever caught at all. What’s worse, about 32 percent of retractions are never published,9 leaving the readers completely in the dark about the fallacies in those studies.

Poster Children for Corrupted Science

Corrupt and Criminal Pharmaceutical Companies

One clear example of how deadly corrupted science can be is the painkiller Vioxx. There were many indications that this would be a dangerous drug, despite Merck’s claims, and I warned my readers to avoid it before its FDA approval in 1999. In 2008, four years after the drug was withdrawn from the market, an editorial10 published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) suggested Merck might have deliberately manipulated dozens of academic documents published in the medical literature, in order to promote Vioxx under false pretenses.

The diabetes drug Avandia is another potent example. Between 1999 and 2007, Avandia is estimated to have caused over 80,000 unnecessary heart attacks,11 although the actual numbers of people harmed or killed by the drug is still largely unknown. Avandia is a poster child for the lethal paradigm of corrupted science as GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), the manufacturer of Avandia, hid damaging information about the drug for over 10 years, as they knew it would adversely affect sales!

Two years ago, GSK agreed to a $3 billion settlement over the sales and marketing practices of several of its drugs, including Avandia. This was the largest federal drug-company settlement in US history, surpassing the $2.3 billion paid by Pfizer in 2009 for illegally promoting off-label uses of four of its drugs. Most recently, GSK’s crooked ways made international headlines yet again when Chinese authorities arrested four of the company’s senior executives on charges of cash and sexual bribery.

The British Medical Journal’s blog recently featured an article12 by former BMJ editor and director of the United Health Group’s chronic disease initiative, Richard Smith. The piece is also the foreword to the book mentioned earlier, Deadly Medicines and Organized Crime. Smith writes:13

“The drug industry has systematically corrupted science to play up the benefits and play down the harms of their drugs…. the industry has bought doctors, academics, journals, professional and patient organizations, university departments, journalists, regulators, and politicians. These are the methods of the mob.

… [D]octors and academics are supposed to have a higher calling. Laws that are requiring companies to declare payments to doctors are showing that very high proportions of doctors are beholden to the drug industry and that many are being paid six figures sums for advising companies or giving talks on their behalf. It’s hard to escape the conclusion that these “key opinion leaders” are being bought. They are the “hired guns” of the industry.

And, as with the mob, woe be to anybody who whistleblows or gives evidence against the industry. Peter tells several stories of whistleblowers being hounded, and John Le Carré’s novel describing drug company ruthlessness became a bestseller and a successful Hollywood film.”

Basic Tenets of Optimal Health:

Any time your doctor suggests a drug for an ailment, I urge you to do your due diligence before taking it. That said, remember that leading a common-sense, healthy lifestyle is your best bet to achieve a healthy body and mind. And while conventional medical science may flip-flop back and forth in its recommendations, there are certain basic tenets of optimal health that remain unchanged. Following these healthy lifestyle guidelines can go a very long way toward keeping you well and prevent chronic disease of all kinds:

* Proper Food Choices: For a comprehensive guide on which foods to eat and which to avoid, see my nutrition plan. Generally speaking, you should be looking to focus your diet on whole, ideally organic, unprocessed foods. For the best nutrition and health benefits, you will want to eat a good portion of your food raw.

* Avoid sugar, and fructose in particular. All forms of sugar have toxic effects when consumed in excess, and drive multiple disease processes in your body, not the least of which is insulin resistance, a major cause of chronic disease and accelerated aging. (Use Natural Honey instead)

* I believe the two primary keys for successful weight management are severely restricting carbohydrates (sugars, fructose, and grains) in your diet, and increasing healthy fat consumption. This will optimize insulin and leptin levels, which is key for maintaining a healthy weight and optimal health.

* Regular exercise: Even if you’re eating the healthiest diet in the world, you still need to exercise to reach the highest levels of health, and you need to be exercising effectively, which means including high-intensity activities into your rotation. High-intensity interval-type training boosts human growth hormone (HGH) production, which is essential for optimal health, strength and vigor. HGH also helps boost weight loss.

* So along with core-strengthening exercises, strength training, and stretching, I highly recommend that two to three times a week you do Peak Fitness exercises, which raise your heart rate up to your anaerobic threshold for 20 to 30 seconds, followed by a 90-second recovery period.

* Stress Reduction: You cannot be optimally healthy if you avoid addressing the emotional component of your health and longevity, as your emotional state plays a role in nearly every physical disease — from heart disease and depression, to arthritis and cancer.

* Meditation, prayer, social support and exercise are all viable options that can help you maintain emotional and mental equilibrium. I also strongly believe in using simple tools such as the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to address deeper, oftentimes hidden, emotional problems.

* Drink plenty of clean water so that your urine is light yellow.
((( Non-Fluoridated Alkaline water only )))

* Maintain a healthy gut: About 80 percent of your immune system resides in your gut, and research is stacking up showing that probiotics—beneficial bacteria—affect your health in a myriad of ways; it can even influence your ability to lose weight. A healthy diet is the ideal way to maintain a healthy gut, and regularly consuming traditionally fermented foods is the easiest, most cost effective way to ensure optimal gut flora.

* Optimize your vitamin D levels: Research has shown that increasing your vitamin D levels can reduce your risk of death from ALL causes. For practical guidelines on how to use natural sun exposure to optimize your vitamin D benefits, please see my previous article on how to determine if enough UVB is able to penetrate the atmosphere to allow for vitamin D production in your skin.
((( Vitamin D3: 20,000 IU-25,000 IU (International Units) Daily)))

* Avoid as many chemicals, toxins, and pollutants as possible: This includes tossing out your toxic household cleaners, soaps, personal hygiene products, air fresheners, bug sprays, lawn pesticides, and insecticides, just to name a few, and replacing them with non-toxic alternatives.

* Get plenty of high quality sleep: Regularly catching only a few hours of sleep can hinder metabolism and hormone production in a way that is similar to the effects of aging and the early stages of diabetes. Chronic sleep loss may speed the onset or increase the severity of age-related conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, and memory loss.

The discovery of a page, on the FDA’s own website, proves the FDA is fully aware that:

the drugs it certifies as safe have been killing Americans, at the rate of 100,000 per year.

The FDA website page is currently available under the heading, “Why Learn About Adverse Drug Reactions,” and it can be Googled. (Click here to go directly to the FDA page.)

The implications of this Smoking Gun are hard to grasp in any rational way.

The FDA takes no blame, no responsibility for its actions, and yet it admits the death statistics are accurate.

As an investigative reporter, I have been tracking and writing about pharmaceutically-caused deaths for 10 years. I have, on numerous occasions, cited Dr. Barbara Starfield’s report in the July 26th, 2000, Journal of the American Medical Association, in which she presents the figure of 106,000 deaths per year, in America, as a result of these drugs. I have claimed that the federal government and, in particular, the FDA, are aware of these numbers.

And now the page on the FDA’s own website confirms the death toll. Yet, nowhere do we see the FDA taking one shred of responsibility for this ongoing holocaust.

Holocaust? Add up the figures. Medical drugs cause 100,000 deaths in America every year: that means a million Americans are killed every decade.

Understand this very clearly. No medical drug in America can be released for public use until and unless the FDA states it is safe. The FDA is the agency responsible for every such decision on every drug. The buck stops there.

Yes, the FDA has a “special relationship” with the pharmaceutical industry. Yes, the FDA utilizes doctors on their drug-approval panels that have ties to the pharmaceutical industry. But, in the end, it is the FDA official seal that opens the gate and permits a drug to be prescribed by doctors and sold in the US.

In all my research on this medical-drug holocaust, I have never found a case in which any FDA employee was censured, fired, or criminally prosecuted for the killing effects of these drugs.

That is a track record Organized Crime would be proud of, and the comparison is not frivolous.

On this FDA website page that has just come to light, the FDA also readily admits that deaths from medical drugs are the fourth leading cause of death in America, ahead of pulmonary disease, diabetes, AIDS, pneumonia, accidents, and automobile fatalities.

The FDA website page also states there are 2 million serious adverse reactions (ADRs) from the ingestion of medical drugs, annually, in the US. When the FDA says “serious,” they aren’t talking about headaches or slight dizziness or temporary nausea. “Serious” means stroke, heart attack, neurological damage; destruction of that magnitude. Therefore, per decade, that adds up to 20 million ADRs. 20 million.

Examining these figures for death and debilitation, can you find any comparable crime in the American landscape? And yet the major media have been silent. This is the kind of story that could make Watergate look like a Sunday-school picnic. If a paper like the New York Times let loose their hounds in a relentless exploration of the horror, I can assure you that, in time, doctors and medical bureaucrats and even drug-company employees would come out of the woodwork with confessions, and the resultant explosions and outcries would shake the medical/pharmaceutical foundations of America and the planet.

But these major media outlets are an intrinsic part of the Matrix that protects and sustains the crimes and the criminals. It isn’t just drug-advertising profits that keep the leading newspapers and television networks silent. It’s collusion to protect “a revered institution”—the medical system.

Also at stake is Obamacare. The connection is vivid and unmistakable. If the new national health insurance plan goes into effect, millions more Americans, previously uninsured, will be drawn into the system and subjected to the very drugs are killing and maiming people at such a horrific rate.

Where has the US Department of Justice been all these years? Is there any way, under the sun, that a million deaths per decade can be excused? Is there any way the FDA and the drug companies can float safely in the upper atmosphere of privilege, while the concept of justice has any meaning? Where are criminal prosecutions?

The revelations of ongoing knowledge to be found at the FDA website page stagger the mind. Here is yet another implication: what about all the studies on drugs that are published in prestigious medical journals, month after month? These studies unequivocally claim the drugs are safe. What level of fraud must exist for such peer-reviewed studies to attain the false status of medical fact?

Perhaps this quote from Marcia Angell, former editor of the New England Journal of Medicine, will clarify that aspect of the scandal:

“It is simply no longer possible to believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative medical guidelines. I take no pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of The New England Journal of Medicine.”

* CDC Admits 98 Million Americans Received Polio Vaccine Contaminated With Cancer Virus

* HIV/AIDS was spread by the hepatitis B vaccine produced by Merck & Co. during the early 1970s

* Facts Listed on The CDC Website about SV40:
* SV40 Is an abbreviation for Simian Vacuolating virus 40 or Simian virus 40
* SV40 Is a virus found in some species of monkey.
* SV40 Was discovered in 1960. Soon afterward, the virus was found in polio vaccine.
* SV40 Virus has been found in certain types of cancer in humans.

The CDC has quickly removed a page from their website, which is now cached, ( but now has been removed) admitting that more than 98 million Americans received one or more doses of polio vaccine within an 8-year span when a proportion of the vaccine was contaminated with a cancer causing polyomavirus called SV40. It has been estimated that 10-30 million Americans could have received an SV40 contaminated dose of the vaccine.

SV40 is an abbreviation for Simian vacuolating virus 40 or Simian virus 40, a polyomavirus that is found in both monkeys and humans. Like other polyomaviruses, SV40 is a DNA virus that has been found to cause tumors and cancer.

SV40 is believed to suppress the transcriptional properties of the tumor-suppressing genes in humans through the SV40 Large T-antigen and SV40 Small T-antigen. Mutated genes may contribute to uncontrolled cellular proliferation, leading to cancer.

Michele Carbone, Assistant Professor of Pathology at Loyola University in Chicago, has recently isolated fragments of the SV-40 virus in human bone cancers and in a lethal form of lung cancer called mesothelioma. He found SV-40 in 33% of the osteosarcoma bone cancers studied, in 40% of other bone cancers, and in 60% of the mesotheliomas lung cancers, writes Geraldo Fuentes.
Dr. Michele Carbone openly acknowledged HIV/AIDS was spread by the hepatitis B vaccine produced by Merck & Co. during the early 1970s. It was the first time since the initial transmissions took place in 1972-74, that a leading expert in the field of vaccine manufacturing and testing has openly admitted the Merck & Co. liability for AIDS.

The matter-of-fact disclosure came during discussions of polio vaccines contaminated with SV40 virus which caused cancer in nearly every species infected by injection. Many authorities now admit much, possibly most, of the world’s cancers came from the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines, and hepatitis B vaccines, produced in monkeys and chimps.

It is said mesothelioma is a result of asbestos exposure, but research reveals that 50% of the current mesotheliomas being treated no longer occurs due to asbestos but rather the SV-40 virus contained in the polio vaccination. In addition, according to researchers from the Institute of Histology and General Embryology of the University of Ferrara, SV-40 has turned up in a variety other tumors. By the end of 1996, dozens of scientists reported finding SV40 in a variety of bone cancers and a wide range of brain cancers, which had risen 30 percent over the previous 20 years.

The SV-40 virus is now being detected in tumors removed from people never inoculated with the contaminated vaccine, leading some to conclude that those infected by the vaccine might be spreading SV40.

Soon after its discovery, SV40 was identified in the oral form of the polio vaccine produced between 1955 and 1961 produced by American Home Products (dba Lederle).

Both the oral, live virus and injectable inactive virus were affected. It was found later that the technique used to inactivate the polio virus in the injectable vaccine, by means of formaldehyde, did not reliably kill SV40.

Just two years ago, the U.S. government finally added formaldehyde to a list of known carcinogens and and admitted that the chemical styrene might cause cancer. Yet, the substance is still found in almost every vaccine.

According to the Australian National Research Council, fewer than 20% but perhaps more than 10% of the general population may be susceptible to formaldehyde and may react acutely at any exposure level. More hazardous than most chemicals in 5 out of 12 ranking systems, on at least 8 federal regulatory lists, it is ranked as one of the most hazardous compounds (worst 10%) to ecosystems and human health (Environmental Defense Fund).

In the body, formaldehyde can cause proteins to irreversibly bind to DNA. Laboratory animals exposed to doses of inhaled formaldehyde over their lifetimes have developed more cancers of the nose and throat than are usual.

Facts Listed on The CDC Website about SV40
-SV40 is a virus found in some species of monkey.
-SV40 was discovered in 1960. Soon afterward, the virus was found in polio vaccine.
-SV40 virus has been found in certain types of cancer in humans.

Additional Facts
-In the 1950s, rhesus monkey kidney cells, which contain SV40 if the animal is infected, were used in preparing polio vaccines.

-Not all doses of IPV were contaminated. It has been estimated that 10-30 million people actually received a vaccine that contained SV40.

-Some evidence suggests that receipt of SV40-contaminated polio vaccine may increase risk of cancer.

A Greater Perspective on Aerial Spraying and SV40

The Defense Sciences Office of the Pathogen Countermeasures Program, in September 23, 1998 funded the University of Michigan’s principal investigator, Dr. James Baker, Jr. Dr. Baker, Director of Michigan Nanotechnology Institute for Medicine and Biological Sciences under several DARPA grants. Dr. Baker developed and focused on preventing pathogens from entering the human body, which is a major goal in the development of counter measures to Biological Warfare. This research project sought to develop a composite material that will serve as a pathogen avoidance barrier and post-exposure therapeutic agent to be applied in a topical manner to the skin and mucous membranes. The composite is modeled after the immune system in that it involves redundant, non-specific and specific forms of pathogen defense and inactivation. This composite material is now utilized in many nasal vaccines and vector control through the use of hydro-gel, nanosilicon gels and actuator materials in vaccines.

Through Dr. Baker’s research at the University of Michigan; he developed dendritic polymers and their application to medical and biological science. He co-developed a new vector system for gene transfer using synthetic polymers. These studies have produced striking results and have the potential to change the basis of gene transfer therapy. Dendrimers are nanometer-sized water soluble polymers that can conjugate to peptides or arbohydrates to act as decoy molecules to inhibit the binding of toxins and viruses to cells. They can act also as complex and stabilize genetic material for prolonged periods of time, as in a “time released or delayed gene transfer”. Through Dr. Baker’s ground breaking research many pharmaceutical and biological pesticide manufacturers can use these principles in DNA vaccines specific applications that incorporate the Simian Monkey Virus SV40.

In 2006 Michael Greenwood wrote an article for the Yale School of Public Health entitled, “Aerial Spraying Effectively Reduces Incidence of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Humans.” The article stated that the incidence of human West Nile virus cases can be significantly reduced through large scale aerial spraying that targets adult mosquitoes, according to research by the Yale School of Public Health and the California Department of Public Health.

Under the mandate for aerial spraying for specific vectors that pose a threat to human health, aerial vaccines known as DNA Vaccine Enhancements and Recombinant Vaccine against WNV may be tested or used to “protect” the people from vector infection exposures. DNA vaccine enhancements specifically use Epstein-Barr viral capside’s with multi human complement class II activators to neutralize antibodies. The recombinant vaccines against WNV use Rabbit Beta-globulin or the poly (A) signal of the SV40 virus. In early studies of DNA vaccines it was found that the negative result studies would go into the category of future developmental research projects in gene therapy. During the studies of poly (A) signaling of the SV40 for WNV vaccines, it was observed that WNV will lie dormant in individuals who were exposed to chicken pox, thus upon exposure to WNV aerial vaccines the potential for the release of chicken pox virus would cause a greater risk to having adult onset Shingles.

In February 2009 to present date, aerial spraying for the WNV occurred in major cities within the State of California. During spraying of Anaheim, CA a Caucasian female (age 50) was exposed to heavy spraying, while doing her daily exercise of walking several miles. Heavy helicopter activity occurred for several days in this area. After spraying, she experienced light headedness, nausea, muscle aches and increased low back pain. She was evaluated for toxicological mechanisms that were associated with pesticide exposure due to aerial spraying utilizing advanced biological monitoring testing. The test results which included protein band testing utilizing Protein Coupled Response (PCR) methods were positive for KD-45. KD-45 is the protein band for SV-40 Simian Green Monkey virus. Additional tests were performed for Epstein-Barr virus capside and Cytomeglia virus which are used in bio-engineering for gene delivery systems through viral protein envelope and adenoviral protein envelope technology. The individual was positive for both; indicating a highly probable exposure to a DNA vaccination delivery system through nasal inhalation.

The question of the century is how many other viruses and toxins are within current day vaccines that we’ll only find out about in a few decades?

DAMAGE DONE: The Drug War Odyssey – Police Speak Out (L.E.A.P.) Law Enforcement Against Prohibition “Cops Say ‘No’ to the War on Drugs!”

A Former Police Chief on New Marijuana Book

Norm Stamper – 34-year veteran police officer who retired as Seattle’s chief of police in 2000

I’m a drug “legalizer,” not an “incrementalist.” I do not believe drug policy reform should end with the legalization of marijuana. Yet, when asked to contribute a foreword to the new book, Marijuana is Safer: So Why Are We Driving People to Drink, I eagerly accepted. Steve Fox of the Marijuana Policy Project, Paul Armentano of NORML, and Mason Tvert of SAFER have written the definitive answer to the question: Why is booze legal and pot is not? They’ve also offered the most lucid, persuasive strategy for ending this hypocrisy I’ve yet seen. Any book that strikes a blow for drug policy sanity deserves our support, regardless of any ideological differences. My foreword, reprinted here, explains why I support this extraordinary book:

When you pick up a book touting marijuana as a safer recreational alternative to alcohol, I imagine the last thing you are expecting is a foreword from the former chief of police of a major U.S. city. Well, if you’re surprised, I guess we are off to a good start. You see, the goal of this book–and the purpose of this foreword–is to encourage you (fan and foe alike) to reassess the way you think about marijuana.

In pages that follow, you will find objective comparisons of marijuana and alcohol. You will learn about the ways in which the government and other influential institutions have maintained marijuana prohibition while simultaneously turning public opinion against its use. And you will be exposed to a plethora of statistics quantifying the damage caused by alcohol use in our society. Steve, Paul, and Mason have done a terrific job of presenting all of this information in an objective, compelling, and thoughtful manner. I am certain, whatever you may think about marijuana laws at this moment, that you will look at the issue differently by the time you reach the final chapter.

But before you dive into this book–which I truly couldn’t put down the first time I read it–I’d like to give you an insider’s perspective on the question of marijuana versus alcohol. By “insider,” I refer to my decades of law enforcement experience, during which time I witnessed firsthand how these two substances affect consumers, their families, and public safety overall. As you can imagine, those of us who have served our communities as officers of the law have encountered alcohol and marijuana users on a frequent if not daily basis, and we know all too well how often one of these two substances is associated with violent and aggressive behavior.

In all my years on the streets, it was an extremely rare occasion to have a night go by without an alcohol-related incident. More often than not, there were multiple alcohol-related calls during a shift. I became accustomed to the pattern (and the odor). If I was called to a part of town with a concentration of bars or to the local university, I could expect to be greeted by one or more drunks, flexing their “beer muscles,” either in the throes of a fight or looking to start one. Sadly, the same was often true when I received a domestic abuse call. More often than not, these conflicts–many having erupted into physical violence–were fueled by one or both participants having overindulged in alcohol.

In case you might be thinking my observations are unique, let me share the results of some informal research I have conducted on my own. Over the past four years, out of a general interest in this subject, I’ve been asking police officers throughout the U.S. (and Canada) two questions. First: “When’s the last time you had to fight someone under the influence of marijuana?” (And by this I mean marijuana only, not pot plus a six-pack or fifth of tequila.) My colleagues pause; they reflect. Their eyes widen as they realize that in their five or fifteen or thirty years on the job they have never had to fight a marijuana user. I then ask, “When’s the last time you had to fight a drunk?” They look at their watches. It’s telling that the booze question is answered in terms of hours, not days or weeks.

The plain and simple truth is that alcohol fuels violent behavior and marijuana does not. As described in great detail in Chapter 7, alcohol contributes to literally millions of acts of violence in the United States each year. It is a major contributing factor to crimes like domestic violence, sexual assault, and homicide. Marijuana use, on the other hand, is absent in that regard from both crime reports and the scientific literature. There is simply no causal link to be found.

As one who has been entrusted with maintaining the public’s safety, I strongly believe–and most people agree–that our laws should punish people who do harm to others. This is true whether we are talking about violent crimes like murder and assault or nonviolent crimes like shoplifting or insider trading. It is also appropriate to punish other behavior that threatens public safety such as speeding or driving through red lights. All of these laws are clearly designed to protect our citizens.

But by banning the use of marijuana and punishing individuals who merely possess the substance, it is difficult to see what harm we are trying to prevent. It bears repeating: From my own work and the experiences of other members of the law enforcement community, it is abundantly clear that marijuana is rarely, if ever, the cause of harmfully disruptive or violent behavior. In fact, I would go so far as to say that marijuana use often helps to tamp down tensions where they otherwise might exist.

That marijuana causes very little social harm is reason enough in a free society to legalize it for adults. But as Steve, Paul, and Mason so brilliantly demonstrate in this book, an even more persuasive reason is that by prohibiting marijuana we are steering people toward a substance that far too many people already abuse, namely alcohol. Can marijuana be abused? Of course. But, as this book makes clear, it is a much safer product for social and recreational use than alcohol. Where is the logic, then, in allowing adults to use alcohol but arresting them and branding them as criminals if they choose to use marijuana instead?

Let me be clear. The problem does not lie with law enforcement officials. Your police officers take an oath to uphold the law and cannot simply turn their backs when they see marijuana statutes violated. What we need is to replace the current system of prohibition with new laws that permit and regulate the sale of marijuana, an excellent framework for which is provided in this extraordinary book. Read it, and you’ll agree it is time we stop driving the American people to drink. Instead, we should simply and logically allow them to use a safer alternative, if that is what they prefer.

Viewing this film and reading this Article may change your answers to these questions: Should law enforcement officers be expected to enforce laws that don’t make sense? What happens if the police don’t believe in the laws?

What if nobody believes in them? Does drug prohibition actually do more harm than drug use?

Our primary characters, all current or former law enforcement officers, say that as much as 80% of all felony crime is caused by drug addiction prohibition.

“Legalize, regulate and tax” is their mantra now.

Our heroes believe that all illicit drugs should be under the control of government, not left in the hands of criminals.

40 Years of Drug War Hasn’t Worked; “Time for a Change,” Says 9-Year Veteran

The public understands how disastrous it’s been — now it’s time for the politicians and law enforcement to change course.
June 15, 2011 |

The “War on Drugs” was launched by President Richard Nixon 40 years ago this week. In 1980, at the end of its first decade, I began a nine-year career as a “captain” in the war on drugs. I was the attorney in the U.S. House of Representatives principally responsible for overseeing DEA and writing anti-drug laws as counsel to the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime.

White House leadership

The heart of Nixon’s 5,300-word message to Congress on June 17, 1971 was a plan “to consolidate at the highest level a full-scale attack on the problem of drug abuse in America” in a White House Office. The office was dismantled soon after Nixon resigned having been resisted by Cabinet secretaries and anti-drug agencies.

Soon after the Reagan Administration took office in 1981, Democrats in Congress began attacking the disorganization of the anti-drug effort, and mocked administration witnesses who insisted that President Reagan was really in charge. Senator Joseph Biden’s (D-DE) proposal to create a “drug czar” passed Congress in 1982 but led to President Reagan’s only veto of an anti-crime, anti-drug package. The resulting political outrage led to appointment of then-Vice President George H.W. Bush to lead a South Florida anti-drug task force, a “mini drug czar.”

Hearings I set up for the House Judiciary Committee helped lead to the 1984 enactment of an anti-drug strategy board led by the attorney general, and then its replacement in 1988 with our current White House “drug czar,” the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). But, 40 years on, our anti-drug effort is no better managed now than when Nixon decried bureaucratic red-tape and jurisdictional disputes among agencies.

After 22 years, ONDCP has proven to be an ineffectual waste of money. Anti-drug efforts remain haphazard and uncoordinated. Federal anti-drug prosecutions are unfocused, wasteful and racially discriminatory. An examination of the 25,000 federal drug cases concluded each year reveals two outrageous facts. First, instead of high-impact investigations targeting the most dangerous and powerful drug traffickers, the typical federal cases target the lowest level offenders: local street dealers, lookouts, bodyguards, couriers, “mules,” etc. selling small quantities of drugs that are tiny specks in the picture of the national and global drug trade. Second, the defendants in these cases are overwhelmingly black and Hispanic. Only about one in four federal drug defendants is white.

This regular pattern of mostly unimportant cases with very long sentences imposed predominately on racial minorities makes out a prima facie case of a pattern or practice of racial discrimination. But this well-known pattern has been ignored by the attorney general and the director of ONDCP in an egregious abandonment of their leadership responsibilities.

Another issue crying out for high-level coordination reveals the fundamental failure of the drug war approach. For most of the history of ONDCP, it has campaigned against state medical marijuana laws. Since 1996, 16 states have passed laws that recognize patient use of marijuana for medical treatment. But this conflicts with current federal law. As the leader of the drug war, the drug czar has done nothing to coordinate federal research, regulatory and enforcement efforts necessary to resolve this conflict that leads medical patients and doctors to legal danger and unsatisfactory medical care.

ONDCP’s signature “achievement” has been to spend $1.4 billion in a youth anti-drug media campaign that has been demonstrated by the government’s independent evaluators and the GAO to be utterly ineffectual.

Death and Disease

In his 1971 message, Nixon lamented 1,000 narcotics deaths in New York City in 1970, then the epicenter of the heroin addiction problem. At the end of 1979, the annual number of drug abuse deaths was 7,101, which grew to 9,976 in 1986, the year basketball star Len Bias died from a cocaine-induced seizure. But the death rate from illegal drugs has exploded! In 2007, there were an estimated 38,000 drug overdose deaths nationwide. The death rate has grown from 3.0 per 100,000 in 1980 to 12.8 in 2006.

Since 1981, when HIV entered the bloodstream of America’s injecting drug users, epidemiologists’ projects to protect the lives of drug users have been stymied by drug warriors. In 1998, HHS Secretary Donna Shalala endorsed sterile syringe exchange as scientifically proven to prevent the spread of blood-borne disease among injecting drug users. But implementing this lifesaving approach was blocked by White House ONDCP director, General Barry McCaffrey.

In February 2005, Bush White House ONDCP director John Walters was found by the Washington Post to have completely misrepresented the scientific research supporting syringe exchange. The opposition of the White House directors of drug policy is due to the distorting effects of the language and values of war introduced by President Nixon. The emotional mobilization for war against drugs (and drug users) barred acceptance of scientific findings that sterile needle exchange protected drug users from HIV and hepatitis and other blood-borne disease. In a war on drugs, users weren’t supposed to be protected from disease and death, they were to be stopped from using drugs.

I recall a member of Congress in the late 1980s saying that America won’t have to worry about the heroin problem anymore since the addicts will all soon die from AIDS. This indifference to the lives and dignity of drug users has been a hallmark of the war on drugs. Indeed, between 1999 and 2007, over 48,000 persons died in the U.S. from AIDS due to transmission by infected needles. These deaths are in large part due to the absolutist ideology of the drug war that Nixon inspired.

Drug Use and Treatment

Nixon said his initiative “must be judged by the number of human beings who are brought out of the hell of addiction, and by the number of human beings who are dissuaded from entering that hell.”

Most school-based prevention efforts, such as D.A.R.E., have been proven to be ineffective. Yet hundreds of millions of dollars are spent on such efforts by federal, state and local governments and with private contributions. Not surprisingly, drug use has continued to grow, especially marijuana use. In 2009, there were 21.8 million users of illicit drugs.

Nevertheless, Nixon drove a dramatic expansion of federally funded drug treatment using methadone in many cities, and crime went down in time for the 1972 election. But over the long term, as the anti-drug effort conformed to the strident rhetoric of war that Nixon popularized, the supply of drug treatment has not kept pace with the demand. By 2008, an estimated 7,559,000 Americans needed drug treatment, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, but 6,351,000 did not receive any treatment. From 2002 to 2008, among youth aged 12 to 17, the number who received drug treatment declined from 142,000 to 111,000. Nixon’s goal to expand drug treatment to meet the need has never been met.

Federal Anti-Drug Costs

Nixon asked Congress for $159 million dollars for his initiatives, plus an unspecified amount to pay 325 additional agents for what became the DEA.

Over the past 40 years, the federal government has spent, cumulatively, roughly a half trillion dollars on the “war on drugs.” By FY 1975, federal anti-drug spending had climbed to $680 million. For the past 20 years, federal spending on drugs has exceeded $15 billion per year including the costs of imprisonment.

The costs are now so high, for a decade the “drug czars” seem to regularly conceal almost one-third of the anti-drug spending by excluding it from the formal anti-drug budget they report to Congress. ONDCP says that $14.8 billion was spent in FY 2009 to fight drugs. But another $6.9 billion was also spent in FY 2009 on anti-drug programs such as the incarceration of federal drug prisoners.

The FY 2011 formal anti-drug budget request is for $15.5 billion, excluding imprisonment and the many other costs which remain concealed in the budget submission.

The cost of imprisoning federal drug prisoners has been over $3 billion annually since FY 2008. On June 9, 2011 the total federal prison population exceeded 216,000. As of May 20, 2011, 50.8 percent of convicted federal prisoners were drug offenders.

Economic Impact

Nixon wanted research and “development of necessary reports, statistics, and social indicators for use by all public and private groups.”

Unfortunately, we do not have a clear idea of the cost to the economy from the unemployment and underemployment of tens of millions who have criminal records for drug use or distribution. With criminal records, many such men are unmarriageable and can’t obtain credit.

What has it meant to the shareholders and investment funds that own Ford, General Motors and Chrysler, and the union workers who build cars and components, that instead of the 200,000 prisoners in state and federal prisons in 1972, now there are about 1.6 million adults in prison (and another 600,000 in jails)? This is a population of about 1.4 million mostly young men (prime car owners) who can’t buy a car.

America’s economy is famously consumer driven and is terribly hurt when tens of millions of residents can’t work and can’t buy the goods manufactured and sold by American businesses. This constriction of our domestic market is not a problem our Japanese and German competitors face.

Nixon asked for $14 million “to make the facilities of the Veterans Administration available to all former servicemen in need of drug rehabilitation.” SAMHSA, using data from National Surveys on Drug Use and Health from 2004-2006 indicate that out of a veteran population of 25.9 million persons, an annual average 7.1 percent of veterans met the criteria for a past year substance use disorder, and another 1.5 percent had co-occurring serious psychological distress and substance use disorder. We all know the population of veterans with physical and psychological injuries is rapidly growing and that substance abuse is growing in that population. The ONDCP focuses on the criminal cases, touting special criminal courts to treat veterans who commit crimes, while treatment in general languishes.

International initiatives

A major feature of Nixon’s message stressed the need for international cooperation. He had already stumbled badly when “Operation Intercept” in September 1969 created enormous traffic jams at the Mexico-U.S. border, and severely damaged trade and bilateral relations.

Opium grown in Turkey was the source of 80 percent of the heroin consumed in the U.S. in 1968. Nixon made an overture to Turkey and they cracked down on illegal opium growing and required cultivation licenses. Opium is now grown legally there to make morphine, and none is diverted to heroin. Instead of following this successful legalization strategy, Nixon’s successors tried to rely only on forceful crop eradication. But enforcement is like squeezing a balloon. The drug production shifts to new countries which render such successes meaningless. Sadly, expanding production of opium and heroin has become a disaster for other nations such as Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala and Afghanistan, fueling insurrection, wholesale corruption and widespread assassination.

Support for Prohibition Is Vanishing

In the face of threats of prosecution from the federal government, stuck in the ideology of the “war on drugs,” state legislatures and governors continue to pass medical marijuana laws. On May 10, 2011, Maryland’s governor signed a law creating a complete medical use defense to a marijuana prosecution and creating a state commission to write a model medical marijuana law. On May 13, 2011, Delaware’s governor signed a medical marijuana law, making it the sixteenth state with a comprehensive law to protect medical use of marijuana. On June 2, 2011, Vermont’s governor signed a law to add medical marijuana dispensaries to that state’s medical marijuana law.

On June 7, 2011, the Connecticut legislature voted to decriminalize possession of less than a half ounce of marijuana and the governor has promised to sign the law. In November 2010, in California, 46.5 percent of the voters supported legalizing marijuana, and polls revealed that 30 percent of “no” voters said they supported legalization but not in the form of Proposition 19 that was the regime on the ballot.

I have been involved in making drug policy professionally for more than 30 years — three-quarters of the war on drugs. On June 14, I joined five veteran police officers (local, state and federal), a former judge, and a corrections commissioner — all speakers from Law Enforcement Against Prohibition – to bring to ONDCP Director Gil Kerlikowske LEAP’s indictment of the failures of war on drugs policy. We held a press conference on the sidewalk outside his office near the White House. As it was breaking up, four construction workers asked my chief of staff what it was all about. She told them it was about legalizing drugs. Immediately they started telling her all the various reasons why our drug policy is a failure.

For 10 minutes they described the racial disparity in arrests, the drug violence in Mexico and in American neighborhoods, the deaths from drug overdose, the pointlessness of arresting a drug dealer who gets immediately replaced or putting drug users in jail. They noted the parallels between the failure of alcohol prohibition and drug prohibition. They noted the tax revenues from drug sales that we are losing. This telling anecdote reveals how broadly the public understands that Nixon’s “war on drugs” has been a widespread failure.

The next step is for the drug policy reform community to present concrete proposals for analysis to legislators and the public. Surely most of us can agree with prestigious groups such as the Global Commission on Drug Policy that the facts of the war on drugs after 40 years are clear signs we need a very different strategy.

DEFEATING DEATH – IN THE NAME OF HUMANITY: A World Without Cancer – The Budwig Diet And Laetrile/B-17 Protocols – True Democracy Party

Uprooting the Leading Causes of Death:

Death in America is largely a foodborne illness.

Focusing on studies published just over the last year in peer-reviewed scientific medical journals, Michael Greger, M.D., offers practical advice on how best to feed ourselves and our families to prevent, treat, and even reverse many of the top 15 killers in the United States.

“The 6th leading cause of death in America is Doctors. 100,000 thousand people die each year due to Adverse Medical Reactions (ADR’s), due to FDA Approved and Properly administered Medications.

And each one of them is Preventable.”

– Michael Greger, M.D.

The Budwig Diet

A Rolls Royce cancer treatment program on a VW budget!

You can get rid of almost any cancer without surgery, without radiation, and without chemo.

How this miracle food kills cancer cells by the millions

A simple protocol to cure cancer at home. If cancer patients do only one thing, they should eat this miracle food every day.

It can’t hurt. It’s only food.

Actually, the miracle food is a combination of two foods that you mix together. You can get these foods at grocery stores and health food stores all over the developed world. And if that fails you can get them from the Internet.

In the 1950s, a medical researcher discovered that when you combine these two foods in a blender, they form a unique molecule that has an amazing power: it oxygenates the entire body all the way down to the cellular level. The researcher was nominated for a Nobel Prize seven times because of this discovery.

It’s critical for cancer patients to oxygenate their cells because cancer cells are anaerobic. That means they thrive in an oxygen-free environment. These abnormal cells live and multiply through a fermentation process and they can’t stand oxygen.

Like exposing a vampire to sunshine

Bringing fresh oxygen to cancer cells is like exposing a vampire to bright sunshine. If you’ve ever seen a vampire movie, you know that when sunlight shines on the vampire, the vampire recoils, shrivels up, and dies.

Well, the same thing happens when you blast cancer cells with an extra dose of fresh oxygen. They shrivel up and die by the millions. And that makes it critical that cancer patients regularly blast cancer cells with high doses of fresh oxygen. And that’s exactly what this miracle food does.

The cancer patient can easily get into a downward spiral: when the body’s cells start to run down, they attract less oxygen from the blood stream, causing them to become even more run down and attract even less oxygen. Cancer thrives in this downward spiral.

Here’s how the miracle food reverses the downward spiral:

Because this miracle food is water-soluble, the human body easily absorbs it so that it can travel right to the cells, which are in dire need of help!
In layman’s terms, this miracle food attaches “magnets” to the walls of the cells. These tiny “magnets” attract oxygen, pulling extra oxygen to the cells from the vast network of blood vessels.
This miracle food makes the cells’ walls more permeable so the newly attracted oxygen can actually enter the cells and energize them.

This oxygen disrupts the cancer cells’ anaerobic environment, causing the cancer cells to die by the millions! Eating this miracle food brings extra oxygen to ALL of your body’s cells. It reinvigorates normal cells, making them healthier and more disease resistant.

Like melting the Wicked Witch of the West

Oxygenating cancer causes the cancer to melt. If you’ve ever seen the Wizard of Oz, I’m sure you remember what happened when Dorothy splashed the bucket of water on the Wicked Witch of the West. The Witch moaned, “I’m melting… melting…” as she got “liquidated” into a dark puddle.

Well, that’s pretty much what happens to the cancer cells when you eat the miracle food. As the cancer melts away, your body eliminates the dead cells.

And there’s another HUGE benefit. The miracle food also oxygenates and energizes your normal cells, making them healthier and protecting them from turning cancerous. In other words, you get protection from cancer for as long as you eat this amazing food. This is the cheapest health insurance I know of.

This miracle food can benefit ALL OF US,
whether we have cancer or not

You see, this miracle food is for anyone who wants more energy and better health. So whether you’re looking to lose weight, get pain relief, get more energy, prevent cancer, or cure cancer, I believe you could benefit from the miracle food.

The Budwig Diet

by Robert Willner, M.D., Ph.D. (author of The Cancer Solution)

Six time nobel award nominated doctor says this essential nutrient combination actually prevents and cures cancer!

A top European cancer research scientist, Dr Johanna Budwig, has discovered a totally natural formula that not only protects against the development of cancer but people all over the world who have been diagnosed with incurable cancer and sent home to die have actually been cured and now lead normal healthy lives.

After three decades of research Dr. Budwig, six-time nominee for the Nobel Award, found that the blood of seriously ill cancer patients was always, without exception, deficient in certain important essential ingredients which included substances called phosphatides and lipoproteins. (The blood of a healthy person always contains sufficient quantities of these essential ingredients. However, without these natural ingredients cancer cells grow wild and out of control.)

Blood analysis showed a strange greenish-yellow substance in place of the healthy red oxygen carrying hemoglobin that belongs there. This explained why cancer patients weaken and become anemic This startling discovery led Dr. Budwig to test her theory.

She found that when these natural ingredients where replaced over approximately a three month period, tumors gradually receded. The strange greenish elements in the blood were replaced with healthy red blood cells as the phosphatides and lipoproteins almost miraculously reappeared. Weakness and anemia disappeared and life energy was restored. Symptoms of cancer, liver dysfunction and diabetes were completely alleviated.

Dr. Budwig then discovered an all natural way for people to replace those essential ingredients their bodies so desperately needed in their daily diet. By simply eating a combination of just two natural and delicious foods not only can cancer be prevented but in case after case it was actually cured. (These two natural foods, organic flax seed oil & cottage cheese) must be eaten together to be effective since one triggers the properties of the other to be released.)

After more than 10 years of solid clinical application, Dr. Budwig’s natural formula has proven successful where many orthodox remedies have failed. Dr. Budwig’s formula has been used therapeutically in Europe for prevention of: Cancer! Arteriosclerosis, Strokes, Cardiac Infarction, Heartbeat (irregular), Liver (fatty degeneration), Lungs (reduces bronchial spasms), Intestines (regulates activity). Stomach Ulcers (normalizes gastric juices), Prostate (hypertopic), Arthritis (exerts a favorable influence), Eczema (assists all skin diseases), Old age (improves many common afflictions), Brain (strenghthens activity), Immune Deficiency Syndromes (multiple sclerosis, auto-immune illnesses)

Thousands have flocked 10 hear Dr. Budwig lecture all over Europe. The many people Dr. Budwig’s formula has helped testify to the benefits of her remarkable discovery. Following are a few examples: In one of my interviews with Dr. Budwig I was introduced to Siegried Ernst, M.D.. He is a rare and dedicated man who counts among his personal friends the current Pope as well as many other dignitaries.

Seventeen years ago Dr. Ernst had developed cancer for which he had major surgery requiring removal of his stomach. Two years later he had a recurrence of the cancer and was offered chemotherapy as the only available remedy. There was little hope for survival as virtually all individuals with recurrence of this type of cancer rarely last a year.

Dr. Ernst knew that chemotherapy was not only ineffective for his type of cancer but completaly destructive of the quality of life, so he refused.

He turned to Dr. Budwig and her formula for help. He religiously followed Dr. Budwig’s formula and fifteen years later has not had any recurrence of cancer. As a matter of fact he seemed to me to be in perfect health and is tireless for a man in his late seventies.

Maria W. tells her story in her own words: “I was told by the most expert of doctors that I would have to be operated on to cut out the cancerous tumor that was causing a swelling under my eye. They explained that the size of the tumor was much greater inside and that there was very serious bone involvement. The malignancy was too far advanced to respond to radiation treatment. The doctors planned to remove considerable facial tissue and bone. I was afraid for my life, but being a young woman, couldn’t bear the thought of such disfigurement.

When I heard about Dr. Budwig’s natural formula, I was skeptical but desperate for help. After four months on this regimen, the swelling under my left eye completely disappeared. The doctors at the University hospital gave me many exhausting tests. One told me, ‘If I didn’t have your previous x-rays and medical history in front of me, I wouldn’t believe that you ever had cancer. There is hardly any indication of a tumor remaining.’ I never thought using Dr, Budwig’s formula would be so successful. My whole family and I are very grateful.”

An examination of Sandy A. revealed arachnoidal bleeding due to an inoperable brain tumor. The doctors informed Sandy that he was beyond medical help. At his expressed wish, Sandy was discharged from the hospital and sent home to die in peace.

A friend brought Dr. Budwig’s formula to Sandy’s attention. Sandy writes. “Since I went on the Budwig regimen, the paralysis is of my eyes, arms, and legs has receded daily. After only a short period of time, I was able to urinate normally. My health improved so rapidly that I was soon able to return to my work part-time. Shortly after that, I was again examined at the Research Center and my reflexes were completely normal. The Budwig diet saved my life! Ten years later, I was given a thorough examination at the Center as a follow-up. My incredible recovery has been written up In many medical journals and I have become what they call a ‘text-book case,’ and all because of Dr. Johanna Budwig’s simple diet.”

Seven years ago Timmy G. was diagnosed as having Hodgkins disease. The child was operated on and underwent 24 radiation treatments, plus additional experimental therapies that the experts hoped would be of some small help. When Timmy failed to respond favorably to these heroic measures, he was discharged as incurable, and given six months to live and sent home to die.

The desperate parents contacted specialists all over the world. A famous newspaper took up Timmy’s cause and ran editorials pleading for someone to come forth who could offer hope for the life of a child. All the specialists who replied confirmed the cruel prognosis: There was no hope or help for Timmy. At this dark hour the miracle the family had prayed for happened! Timmy’s mother told her story to the press:

“A friend sent me a printed piece about one of Dr. Budwig’s speeches. This material gave us hope and I contacted Dr. Budwig.

In just five days, (on the Budwig regimen) Timmy’s breathing became normal for the first lime In almost two years. From this day on, Timmy began to feel good again. He went back to school, started swimming and by winter he was doing craft work. Everyone who knows him says how well he looks.” At age 18 Timmy is showing great promise in his university work. He knows he owes his life to Dr. Budwig and thanks her daily in his prayers.

One of the two foods in on Budwig’s formula, cottage cheese, is available in nearly every grocery store in America. The other, pure organic linseed oil, however comes primarily from Europe and can only be found in certain health food stores throughout the United States.

By simply mixing these two delicious foods together and eating them you will be providing yourself and your family with the optimal preventive nutritional protection against cancer and other disease.

My wife’s basal skin cancer is GONE… the apples seeds she’s been eating UPDATED
Submitted by cinco on Wed, 08/13/2008 – 11:50
Daily Paul Liberty Forum

Just want to say a very heartfelt “THANK YOU VERY MUCH!” to SENTINEL for originally posting the B17 thread a few weeks back…

It was not a fluke that I was reading on Daily Paul – as I do everyday that I can…..but it’s a fluke having the chance to read certain threads and the posts that follow them – time allowing of course. I watched the G. Ed Griffin film from the 1970’s and with my wife by my side.

She was a little skeptical – well, we both were – but only because of the dis-info job that has been done on the men and women who brought this information to light – or kept it in the light, for that matter.

We had scheduled an appointment with our dermatologist at the summer’s beginning to have two spots removed for sure, and have any others checked out. It’s a two month wait for that appointment.

I read the B17 thread the day before that appointment and we canceled it then and there (though still skeptical!). Very scared that I would jeopardize my love’s health over some thread we saw…..I remembered that my mom had many spots on her back in the past decade and has had them removed. In fact, it was MY MOM that said the two spots on my wife’s hand were skin cancer…..and they did indeed match many of the photos of skin cancer online that we’ve seen together. The same doctor to whom we looked for this service, a woman who is very good and very precise, still had to take out chunks of my mom’s back to get everything gone. She did her best, as far as THAT goes….

But now I’m here to tell each and every one of you……

CODEX is real.
The war against us and our health is real.
It’s as real as real gets.

And my love’s skin cancer was not going away on it’s own. It started about a year ago and grew to about the size of a dime on her hand.
All of the symptoms led us straight to basal skin cancer.

Thanks to all who are getting this information out to the people.

Right after seeing the Griffin film, I told my 59 year old mother about B17….in 1991 she was diagnosed with lymphoma and went into remission the next year after radiation and chemotherapy almost killed her.

To my mom I sent an email with a link to the Griffin film and a note saying – I wish we had had this information at times when we needed it most……meaning……..i wish I’d been able to keep her alive some other way than how she was kept alive…….and I wish my uncle had been saved from prostate cancer at the ripe old age of 56. His “doctor” did nothing for him when his PSA count rose to 12.

A shock to my system… mother turned me down cold…..saying these exact words in her reply email……..I share them with you because i feel it is important to understand how brilliant she actually is…….and how scared:

“Since I can’t listen to a video here (at work), I read about Ernst Kreb and Laetrile (the chemical equivalent sort of of apricot seeds, etc). From what I read, no laboratory experiments using Laetrile on tumors in rats proved effective. Ernst Kreb flunked out of medical school his second year, after failing miserably at two attempts with the first year and ended up with a degree from some small, Baptist-like college, which offered no science courses at all. His father, who was a doctor, is the one who purported the cancer curing laetrile.

No, I don’t think knowledge has been kept from us anymore than I think anyone has the answer. I think “they” are all collectively ignorant – each doing the best he can within the realms of what each needs to champion his own cause.

This claim is as offensive to me as the American Medical Society’s claim that prescription is the answer to it all.

They are both equally self-serving and to swallow whole either as truth is to be, indeed, one of the masses.”

It made me sad. These, her words……but she still swallows the prescriptions these “doctors” give her…….up to the present day.

Now – I must tell you this tiny little thing as well……so you can fully experience the hypocrisy at work….

Later……my wife was speaking with my mom in my mom’s kitchen…
My mom asked her if she was hungry… wife said said that she was but didn’t want anything other than something raw or equally as good. My mother said,”Apple and peanut butter then?”

“Sure”, my wife said.
Then mom again,”You want that apple quartered?”

My wife, remembering the video, says,”No, I’m going to try to eat the core as well as the seeds….”

Then the shocker…….
My mom……”You know, I just remembered that my mom always eats the seeds and core……..”

Ladies and gentlemen………my grandmother smoked from 1955 to 1996. She only quit smoking when she witnessed her daughter, my mother, get carried out of our house and into an ambulance after a trip of vertigo. Her oldest sister is alive at almost 100 years old. My grandmother has never had cancer…..and never will. She may die of old age though……………:)

Thanks for reading this and for your time.
And THANKS AGAIN to whomever it was who posted the B17 thread.
You have done a great service. i only hope I can repay the world with my life’s work. See you all in St. Paul.

EDIT: Due to the high volume of people spouting cyanide nonsense…….PLEASE READ THE GRIFFIN BOOK OR WATCH THE MOVIE BEFORE SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT POISON.
…..holy god……..I mean…..gee whiz ya’ll………
Did you start talking about Grapes of Wrath BEFORE you read it?
No. You didn’t………………you didn’t.

And also……….to answer a few……….my wife’s basal skin cancer felt “angry” to her… it had it’s own emotions……like it was itchy and moving all at once….like it was separate from her but touching.
That “sensation” is now GONE. She only has the dead center of the big one left (dime size about three or so weeks ago) and she believes that what is left is due to her scratching it for close to a year without knowing what she was doing. It happens. Check yourselves. Learn your own behaviors. Pay attention to your bodies…..they know more about themselves than you do.

This, she is telling me to tell you. I’m not this smart……or maybe I’m smarter………who cares? I don’t and that’s enough.

Here’s a joke, just to end this off nicely….
My dad and mom were talking to a new friend one day recently (true story by the way) and in speaking of them both… dad says…

…………….I’m the uglier one.

MEDIA/HOLLYWOOD(HOLY WOOD): Duck Dynasty – Pushing Stupidity, Trying To Make Americans Look Dumb “Screw Hollywood!” – True Democracy Party

Hollywood and the Mainstream media say that Duck Dynasty is the No. #1 show in America.
77% of Americans disagree and think it’s stupid and dumb.

This is a classic case of Hollywood and the Media pushing their point of view on America and the World.
Are they trying to make Americans look stupid to the rest of the World? Most likely.

We don’t have anything against Duck Dynasty. We just don’t think this show represents America in any real way. And we know how Hollywood uses the media to portray Americans in anyway they wish.

Americans speak out. “F” Hollywood and the Media.

It is a dumb show that confirms that Americans will watch anything.

Most Americans are just plain uneducated morons that love trashy stupid shows like this because they don’t have to think too much.

I mean in one show, they are picking up berries that fell on ground, and one guy doesn’t know the difference between a berry and a possum turd and eats one; and, the rest of the hicks make fun of him. I was channel surfing and saw this nonsense; I will never watch it again.

How can that be entertainment? It can be for educated folks; but the uneducated trash that watches shows like this, are amused. That is why the uneducated masses will never amount to anything; they are just the stupid dregs of our society.

This show is Stupid

I do not get why people are so excited about this show. I couldn’t even make it through one episode. Makes Christians and gun owners look like idiots. These types of shows clearly demonstrate the lack of intelligence of their viewers. Not having had TV in close to a decade, I did not realize how dumbed down our culture has gotten.

Not teaching good family values like some ppl are saying!

Some ppl like this crap and say its a good wholesome family show that teaches family values. Greed is not a good quality and certainly not good wholesome family values and morals. I agree that it is one of the few shows that my children could watch if they chose to because there isn’t a bunch of sex and cursing in it, but it is boring, scripted, and stupid!

Not even funny

My husband and I watched DD a cpl x’s when it first came on. It just got stupider and stupider. I don’t understand why this show is so popular. They are all very greedy and ugly ppl. They needed more money per episode. Like they don’t have enough money already. Greed is a nasty thing. I will NEVER watch this show again!

Stupid TV for stupid people

This is junk TV. No substance. It’s also cheap and takes no effort to make. These people have no talent and as such should not be famous or lauded by the public. If Todd Browning did TV this would be it. Quit watching this garbage and get into some Breaking Bad or any of the other truly great shows on TV right now.

Making Celebrities Out of Bumpkins

As sad as it is, celebrity carries with it a weight of “respect” that it sometimes shouldn’t. We’re not laughing with these people, but laughing at them. Another good example would be American Choppers. Do you know how much fast forwarding I had to do just to watch a bike being built? Slowly but surely that show descended into madness and destruction. It gave a microphone to the idiots of the world. This show is doing the same thing.

Also, let us not forget that it is just bad writing. The show is 99% scripted. Anyone who tells you otherwise has been hitting the bong pretty hard.

Adult version of Honey Boo Boo

Just as stupid as Honey Boo Boo. Only interested in fame and fortune. Who would want to kiss these guys? Do they really eat all the animals they kill? If not, they shouldn’t be killing them. If this is what America likes we are in trouble. Oh wait, I already knew that. Watch something decent people.

Too Much Stupidity

Personally I can’t stand the stupidity on the show and only watched 2 episodes early on before I decided that it was something I didn’t find interesting or entertaining. However, the show is obviously popular with many people and their duck calls sales have improved because of it. I’ve been a duck hunter for over 50 years, I don’t use their products and besides being over-priced I wouldn’t buy any of them based on my opinion of their stupid show.

Setting the human race back hundreds of years

I can’t believe in this day and age that we are actually seeing a tv show that glorifies killing. By all means, let us show the impressionable minds out there how to be so uncaring and unfeeling that we can pick up a gun and shoot an overabundance of animals and laugh about how they die. That is a surefire recipe for serial killers in the making right there. With all the real violence going on out there, has America really become so callous to get ratings that they will promote the senseless murder of animals just to make a buck? This crosses a dangerous line. I thought as the years went on, we were supposed to become a more civilized people. If animals are considered the lower species of life and deserve to die just for behaving like “animals”, then what’s the difference if people choose to behave the same way? Imagine a show that hunts and shoots the uneducated or mentally ill people of the world and laughs about it. A certain Nazi dictator comes to mind. If we allow shows like this to shape and define this generation, then we shouldn’t be complaining when the next group of people are shot at a mall or a school or airport. This show maybe just about a bunch of hillbillies, but in the end the message it is sending is far more serious than you think.

A Testament Why The Rest Of The World Laughs At Americans

I’m stunned that Americans aren’t even embarrassed by how stupid this show makes them look. It isn’t enough that American school children score FAR below the rest of the world in mathematics, the sciences, and even history — they have a program such as this to glory in their ignorance. I suppose that it distracts them while their net worth turns to ashes, their healthcare system is for those with insurance, their justice system is for the wealthy, their decent jobs are shipped overseas or given to immigrants who — shockingly — studied in school, and their economy is being hijacked by the Chinese.

Think I’m exaggerating? Ask one hundred Americans what the Second Amendment to the Constitution covers, and most will answer, in some garbled form or other, ‘….The right to arm bears’, or something.

But ask one hundred Americans what five rights the FIRST Amendment insures, and watch them stumble and sweat. (For those of you Duck Dynasty fans or those with typical American education, they are; freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of religion, and redress of grievance against the government. Please try to remember them.)

How much intelligence does it take to kill a fowl with a brain the size of a bean?

I am a Christian and they are not portraying Christian values.

Si – lies, cheats, and steals. Jase is self-absorbed and selfish. Wiilie is greedy. Phil schemes to get what he wants. Simply praying at the end of every show does not make one a Christian or does not portray Christian values. They are doing more harm than good for all true Christians.

Designed By And For Room Temperature I.Q.s

An ideal show for those whose retirement plans involve scratch-off lottery tickets. Reassuring for those mouth-breathers that long to give the world ‘the finger’.

Maybe they’ll do it the same way that this group of inbred ‘Deliverance’ stand-ins did; send one of their marginally brighter larva to college to learn marketing, and sell Idiot America on what is essentially a licensed character instead of a product. But the odds of that are about the same as hitting the Powerball drawing; smaller, far smaller than being elected President, (although George W. Bush makes the Duck knuckle-draggers look like Rhodes Scholars).

I suppose my basic problem might be rooted in the loss of revenue of the lottery, as the audience spends their hard-earned dollars on Duck Dynasty crap. While I’m the first to agree that a large pat of Lottery revenue is going for worthless projects (and lining some political pockets), at least some trickles through for worthwhile projects.

And I can’t blame either A&E or the Quacks — as long as the left side of the curve is willing to give them their food and rent money, who am I to disagree? It’s The American Dream!

Not stupid enough to watch

As the show has gotten more popular I have tried to view it a few times but its so dumb and scripted I can`t get through 5 minutes of it . As they say you can not fix sttupid and there is no way known to man to fix this stupid show .

It’s really dumb

Duck dynasty is pathetic and fake. It not funny and I can’t believe that people like watching it. In this one episode I saw they were picketing in front of their own company! Can you say fake? I do not wish any one to waste their time watching this garbage!

Loving them less

I was hooked on watching Duck Dynasty because it made me laugh and because it portrayed a close family and faith in God. Then I saw Phil and Si blow up a beaver dam. I began having doubts about the “goodness” of these people, but kept watching the show. Little by little I began seeing what I think is a mindless meanness taking place in some of what these people say and do. It bothers me especially that these people ENJOY going out into the woods and killing practically anything that moves. There’s no appreciation or respect for life unless it’s human life. God created all creatures, not just human ones. There’s nothing good, manly, noble or even Christian in the activity of killing for the pleasure of doing so. I was watching Duck Dynasty because I desperately wanted to find people who would strengthen families with love and kindness and who would help bring us all as a society closer to God and the teachings of Jesus. I now suspect that this show, if you think about it carefully, asks us all to see violence as acceptable. And to see the love of money as acceptable. I’m so disappointed and it hurts.

First of all, scripted, so that really screws the already nonexistent concept of “Reality” T.V. Even with their probably highly paid writing staff, it isn’t…

… Funny. Rednecks aren’t funny, they’re stupid. And I’m from Alabama! Having Uncle Si say ignorant stuff is at best annoying. He thinks that a Dumpling is the act of passing stool… So what? You know who else is annoying. Phil. The so called “Wise, old, patriarch of the Robertsons,” should quit acting so well spoken and giving advice, who does he think he is, Yoda?
– Sincerely a 12 year old who’s mom is, annoyingly, always watching this “Entertainment.”

It’s a STUPID Show!

I live right in the middle of what you’d call “redneck America.” I will admit to being full-blown redneck myself, but I think this is the DUMBEST show I’ve ever had the misfortune of stumbling upon in my entire life. I was channel surfing one night and came up on the channel where this show was on. The Billy Gibbons/Dusty Hill lookalike was blathering on about something or another in a language I couldn’t even understand, even though I tend to live in redneck country myself. I’d like to say it was English, but then I might have been able to understand it.

To enjoy this show, one would need an education in all the dead languages of the world. No, on second thought, one would need as little education as possible to enjoy this show. It is the “Jersey Shore” of redneck TV. At least they had the good sense to cancel “Jersey Shore.”

I rue the day “good” TV shows went away so crap like this could rob us all of our brain cells. The fact that they sometimes show reruns of this on The LEARNING Channel really says a lot. What can you learn from this and Honey Boo Boo other than how to be an inbred moron whose famous last words will be, “haaaay y’all! Hold mah beer and wartch this”?

Bad show. Will never watch again!

This show isn’t funny at all, most of the people I know can’t get enough of it. I tried to see if there was anything appealing to this show, but I wasn’t able to bring myself to enjoy it. The average viewer of this show must have an IQ of 50 because the humor in this show is to entertain morons.

This is why televison sucks

I don’t wacth history channel for reality tv!!! I want educational programming not this crap, same thing is happing to all the cool learning channels national geographic seems to be exclusively reality tv now and they don’t show anything informational any more. The science channel has a bunch of stupid reality shows too. GO AWAY REALITY SHOWS YOU DONT SHOW REALITY YOU COVER IT UP!

Boring mindless drivel

This show is so slow and boring. I can’t believe so many people watch it. It is like sitting around and listening to people talk about absolutely nothing of importance. And that same nothing is repeated three times per episode. There is nothing stimulating or thought provoking about this show. Yes, it is clean, and that may be refreshing. But it is also very pointless and a huge waste of time.
Posted by: Lindap29

Boring and scripted

It’s obvious that the situations on this show are staged. Seriously. What family would purposefully portray southerners as dumb rednecks if not just for tv. This is a smart family who earned a lot of money making these duck calls. They knew that they could make more money acting like idiots so thy went for it.

I can’t stand it

Dumbest show ever, but I guess it takes all kinds. The show isn’t so much offensive as it is boring for me…Just can’t get into it. I personally won’t be watching it, it just isn’t my cup of tea. Besides, I thought I read somewhere online that it was ending?

The most mundane stuff I’ve ever seen.

I can’t believe this is being produced. My first experience with it was so mind-numbingly boring that I honestly don’t remember the storyline, if there even was one. The second time I was exposed to this drivel was when I was cooking and had lost control of the remote. It was during some episode when someone and someone’s wife were shopping for a stove. Really? 20 minutes on the minutiae of buying a bloody stove? How, by anyone’s definition of the word is this considered entertainment? It saddens me to think that so many people find this entertaining. It’s only redeeming value is it doesn’t star a bunch of moronic women complaining at each other and comparing labels. This society is going to Hell in a hand basket if this is the sort of programming that gets renewed.

Total crap and just Awful!

This show is just flat out horrendously stupid and I cant even stand 2 seconds of this show it makes me sick and how can people watch this pile of crap its just awful! It is the hillbilly version of Jersey Shore in my opinion. This show obviously shows that people have a hard time telling what is a good show and what is total crap

Glorifies Deliberate Ignorance

Many of its followers should find it reassuring. It confirms that such things as education, hard work, and personal hygiene aren’t as important as God, guns, and an accent that the rest of the world identifies as ‘inbred hick’ are to amassing a fortune. Why bother repeating the eighth grade (again)? Them air Duck boys didn’t, and they’re farting through silk! (That is, if they actually wear underwear….)

Fake and Contrived

Not only is it painfully contrived but it and the redneck culture it glorifies is why we are a nation of idiots and it will only get worse. Redneck culture is prided on blind faith, trashy nicknames, blowing stuff up and just being plain old stupid. And not to mention greedy.

I’m Too Intelligent For This Show

I’m too intelligent for this show and proud of it. By no means am a conceited person or even full of myself but this is where I draw the line. I just don’t understand why this show is so popular. It’s actually frightening. I tried watching Duck Dynasty three times and I swear I felt my brain cells dying. This show is no good for society. They shoot pumpkins in front of children for goodness sake! Is this our future?

Stupid is as stupid does

This show glorifies everything that is wrong with America. Redneck yokels who basically throw their money down the toilet on stupid trivial things sadly is what passes for “entertainment” these days which really speaks volumes about the state our society. As atrocious as this show is thankfully I still have the freedom to choose not to watch this drivel. But there is nothing entertaining or educational about this program and that is just sad.

Not really funny.

Unless you like Larry the Cable guy, then yes, very funny. Of course it is scripted, but it’s not even well scripted. The setups are so obvious an 8 year old could write this stuff. Again, if this is what you are into, fine. And you can watch this “reality” show with your kids, but when grown adults claim this a funny show I weep for the future of television.

This show is more than a waste of time

Seriously… I don’t see the point.. If people want to waste their time watching this show that’s fine by me. Keep these idiots only on TV and only on TV. It sickens me when I’m shopping and run into displays of duck dynasty merchandise. Someone is getting rich off these ignorant viewers and now all this merchandise crap will be mass produced and sooner or later will end up in landfills when the show loses steam. I even seen a duck dynasty board game. No point in the show so how the hell can you have a board game. There’s plenty of greed circling the existence of duck dynasty. Add more stupidity into Americans and more garbage on our planet.

Cut me a Break!

What a waste of valuable television time. I can think of 27 things that would be more worthy of this kind of prime-time exposure than these nitwits. This is Honey Boo-Boo with beards and smelly pits. I watched five minutes of this show once and never came back to it. It sucks.

Enough with the redneck fad!

Just another show glorifying redneck stupidity. I heard these guys are actualy smart business men but we’ll never know because the show concentrates on stupidity. This whole redneck fad needs to end. It’s getting really old. Can’t they have a reality show wirh people that can count past potatoe? Seriously.

Proof That There Is No God!

I have spent many a times watching television, and saying to myself ‘it cant get much worse than this’. I was wrong. Just when I thought that ‘reality’ tv couldn’t get any worse, I was wrong. Just when I thought that tv in general couldn’t possibly be more intellectually devoid, I was wrong! Doesn’t it strike anybody else as mildly ironic that a show about a bunch of inbred hicks, who preach Christianity, is probably the best argument to come along in some time, that there isn’t a God in the 1st place? Now this is just me, but if there was God in the sky, he would smote them to avoid further bad representation! Everything about this show is proof that the average IQ of the American public is dropping significantly. Anybody who watches crap like this, turn it off. Read a book, and I mean a real book, on a non-fiction subject, WITHOUT PICTURES! I may be an atheist, but if you believe that there is a God, and he created you, don’t you think he wants you to USE the brain he gave you!? Apparently, some people feel differently. And this show is picture proof why we, as a species, are screwed!

Same old thing over and over, if they were so religious they wouldn’t worry about the money so much, everything they do is for money.

Same old thing over and over, if they were really religious they wouldn’t worry so much about money, I have friends with beards like theirs and they are lazy and nasty, Their beards are just a gimmick for attention. I saw earlier picture of Willie and he have bleach blonde hair, what does that say?

Dumb dumb and dumb

Just is a stupid show. Like most reality tv. Really those people are not actors they are nuts, and not in a good way. You wonder why society is the way it is with shows like this becoming popular. Please please take it off the air. It will make a lot of people happy.

The Show is stupid and show rednecks in the worst portrayal

I know many people who are self proclaimed rednecks. Many of these people are not religious and don’t base their opinions on the bible. Not that these people really do, I’m not sure these men can even read. It is showing people that and uneducated, dirty life is wonderful and people often make a lot of money through it. Isolated incident where stupidity gets you something in life

Another Moronic Show

Just another show that shows just how ignorant the people in this country have become. The idiots in this show, Phil et. Al., look like a bunch of rejects from a Class B biker movie but that’s what happens when you have more money than brains. More useless programming like Swamp People, Ax Men, Real Housewives of (pick a city), Buckwild, Tosh.O and 90 percent of the what is on Comedy Central. Talk about the dumbing down of America. A&E should have just cancelled the show.

Brain dead drivel

Frightens me the appeal this and other “reality” shows commands, what a friggin’ waste of time and energy. If there was some humor, or true “reality” to any of them, they might be good character studies, but frightens me more the recent audience support for the star’s statements. Can understand coming from the backwoods morons who like the show, they’re ignorant, but from this multimillionaire faker who had the power to influence the world in a helpful manner gets kudos from the masses. Makes me realize what a true division there is in the country between compassionate forward thinking people and the masses of tv addicted, ill informed, bigoted misanthropes trying to bring us down with them.

It’s a show of yuppies that pretend to be rednecks

Shows like this are a disgrace to our country and make humans look more stupid from a global view point. I don’t think the show should have been on even before the controversy how ever with that said I do find it ironic that a star of a reality show was fired for being himself in an interview. Just goes to show how authentic realty TV really is.

Worst show ever

Load of scripted rubbish about hillbillys who are ignorant but lucky and made money?
More worrying is how popular this show is which does not say much about the audience?
Why would we be punished with these Cristmas marathons???
I feel as though we are paying a huge price for this controversy.

Despicable people who use religion to spew their hate….

Duck dynasty is a ridiculous show for low-life, uneducated, hypocritical trashy people who use the bible to spew their venom and hate…. True religious people do not act this way…. They do not belong in any public TV channel!!!! Stop promoting disgusting and ignorant hilbillies; they are detrimental to our society

For stupid uneducated morons

Of course it is .. For idiots only and for those who have no line no class and no life. If you watch this show and buy these idiots products that is mean you are one of them and you should be so proud of yourself for being moron. Enjoy

Duck Dynasty: Hooked on What? The intelligent dialogue or realistic plots?

The only thing remotely fascinating about Duck Dynasty, is how in the hell this duck call company ever makes a profit, when no one appears to actually work. This is scripted “reality TV” with bad actors and even worse writers. With so many red-neck reality shows, stupid must be cool.

Worst show to ever hit TV

This show is GARBAGE. I have never thought so hard in my life trying to figure out why this show steadily gets 12 million viewers per episode. I watched 2 hours of this trash and failed to laugh even once, nor was i in the slightest bit entertained. To be honest, i would find a candy wrapper more entertaining than this POS show. I cannot believe the complete and utter stupidity. It goes to show that americans are brainless morons (yes im white as can be and lived in the US my whole life) that will only watch trash like this that requires no thinking. There isn’t really anything of value to learn from this show. Its so fake, all the scenes are scripted (theres proof of that if you type in duck dynasty fake on google) and the pubic hair bearded freaks aren’t real christians. Do you really think these morons give a flying $hit about their viewers? They are probably laughing so hard while filming, thinking about all the morons that watch this garbage that fill their pockets with millions of dollars each month, thats likely why they cut scenes quickly. Who in their right mind wants to watch a tv show about a bunch of backwoods redneck hillbillies with extremely long disgusting pubic hair beards? Just looking at these clowns makes me want to vomit. I remember a society just a year or two ago before this trash show where everyone who saw an old man with a beard would think its disgusting and that the guy is a pedophile. I will never understand how anyone could be entertained by or like this absolute trash show. How could anyone find shooting beavers then laughing about it entertaining or funny? The more i hear about this show and the more i see all these brain-dead morons support it, the more i realize that I’m surrounded by millions of absolute morons with low IQ’s. NO ONE with a high intelligence level such as myself would EVER find trash like this entertaining. The tons of merchandise at walmart and other stores makes me laugh, this garbage has gone way too far, and for what? All this hype over a bunch of ugly, disgusting, pubic hair bearded hillbillies? Jesus h christ.

Bigoted Bible Believers Reality Show

This show is the Jersey Shore for rednecks. It’s a uneducated mind numbing show. People may claim Freedom of speech, but some don’t realize that speech can hurt business. This is another reality show that makes Americans look bad. The show contains 3% hunting and 2% duck calls and 95% of stupid boring stuff no one cares about.

It’s a stupid waste of time.

This sort of thing is right in tune with the dumb ing down of the american citizens. The powers at be are busy at work to humiliate and embarrass Americans to the rest of the world. This is a good way to do that. There is big work to be done in this country and world to begin going down the right path of love and compassion and healing this planet in all ways. This sort of thing is not helping and is a disgrace to good human kind.

Awful Show – Awful

The guys aren’t too bright. It’s just pretty dumb in general. Watching this show doesn’t provide information, improve your life – you really can’t even argue that it isn’t a complete waste of time. This is one of the shining examples of how awful reality tv is ….I would rate duck dynasty just below the various ‘housewife’ shows in terms of stupidity.

Stupid is no way to go through life

I have to use 50 words to explain why I don’t like this show? The people are stupid. They act stupid. They sound stupid. They are stupid. This show glorifies people who revel in rejecting anything that bears any resemblance to intelligence and education. I would boycott the advertisers for supporting such complete and utter trash but unfortunately Microsoft (apparently) advertises on DD and I refuse to buy a Mac so that leaves me in a jamb since I’m not going to run a Linux system (20 bucks says that 99% of DD fans have no clue what Linux is…….) It is a sad statement about our society that people actually watch this garbage. It shows you how smart the average American is – not very.

Supports ignorance and false assumptions

I’ve been reading up on this show in light of its recent popularity spike. Seems the characters have been spreading disinformation about historical facts. One such comment was about the foundation of our government, its ideology and foundation. Claiming our founders established America on the concepts of Christianity. When in FACT, our founders were mostly atheist or agnostic and this nation was founded on freedom from unrestricted taxation and the idea that every men has inalienable rights that should be respected. Religious freedom was one such concept and brought a surge of religious immigrants into the country. Although generally Christian in concept, it was not Christianity as we understand it today. Also i remember one saying that China has more freedoms than America because his ‘rights’ were being infringed. Their behavior on the show is frankly an embarrassment; reminding the world how backwards our people are. Have some class A&E; move on and do us a favor.

Propagando No Thanks

Duck Dynasty is a terrible example of a TV show. Its not surprising to hear the recent gay bashing by the star Phil Robertson. Every DD show ends with a jump up on the ol’ bible thump soap box. Please please, go away with that kind of behavior. I can’t believe people enjoy this kind of entertainment?!

Stupid show about nothing

Just an overly dumb show about nothing in particular, I mean whoopee they make duck horns, and are a buck of inbred rednecks, plus they’re anti gay, so that’s an added bonus not to watch it. They have a $400 million dollar deal with Wal-Mart, have you seen the amount of useless junk they put out!

This Show Isn’t Worth Your Time, Why Would Anyone Want To Watch, Really???

I have absolutely nothing against the people in the show and I’ve even tried to give it a fair shake, my wife and I watched two episodes and then we just couldn’t make it through the third, we both sorta looked at each other and started laughing, asking each other what the heck are we doing and that was the end of our Duck Dynasty day’s. We found the show itself to be a complete waste of any productive time. If I were one of the people in the show I would be laughing all the way to the bank, just as we were at the show, how ironic. What I don’t get is that these same people can be found in companies and communities all throughout America and this is where I don’t understand the show, so back to my original question, why would anyone want to watch???

stupid people
