The government of Iceland has forgiven the mortgage debt for much of its population. This nation chose a very different way of stopping the crisis from the rest of European countries. It decided to hear the requests of the population and to put politicians and bankers on the bench of the accused three years after their financial excesses would sank one of the most prosperous economies in 2008.

This is awesome. It shows when the people DO STAND UP they have more power and win against the corrupt bankers and politicians of a country. Iceland is forgiving and erasing the mortgage debt of the population.
They are putting the bankers and politicians on the “Bench of the Accused.” Which means I assume they are putting them on trial for corruption.
Now the rest of people of the world need to start doing the same thing. We all need to stand up and against all the corruption and fraud of the banks and politicians that are puppets of the banks and corporations.

Please explain that statement. Parasite bankers? Didn’t the banks lend the borrowers the money with the expectation of repayment? How are they “parasites?”

You seem to be missing the point. Bankers didn’t decide to prey on people because they wanted additional money from poor people who probably didn’t have it. Instead, the Clinton Administration had this bright idea that owning a house was a fundamental part of the American Dream, and that with a little government persuasion, standards could be set low enough that anyone who wanted a house could buy one, whether they were credit-worthy or not.
This persuasion came in the form of threatening to label lenders as discriminatory if they didn’t lend to anyone who met the (laughably) simple requirements needed under the federal system, opening them up to all kinds of litigation. When their options were to use Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to guarantee a loan that they wouldn’t have made under normal circumstances, or face possible litigation for not allowing the people access to what the government considered a “right” of the people.
I’m sorry I wasn’t able to source all my information, but I don’t have the time right now. If I get the chance to find this again, I’ll try to add sources, but feel free to post any information concerning this, either for or against, that would elaborate on this issue.
And before I get accused of being a banker, I am not. I work in customer service, and am considered fairly poor. My wife keeps trying to convince me to buy a house, but I know we can’t afford it right now, and so we wait. My problems have nothing to do with any banks, but plenty of them are caused by the government.

The result is what you see today. It was all a plan to turn American Citizens into Debt Slaves. And steal any wealth that they had. No one doubts this.

The main purpose of a debt jubilee besides forgiving all debt is to give everyone some where to live where they own the land regardless if its mortgaged or rented. So all occupants would have an equal share of that property that then becomes their asset which they can then trade.
A debt jubilee should cause 2 things: A collapse of all the fiat currencies and also it could bring much of the world’s hidden gold and silver out of hoarding to once again become the circulating currency of renown.
Also Iceland supposedly has their own gold mines same as its big brother Greenland.

I am Icelandic and have lived in Iceland for 72 years now. I just cannot read all this BS about the FORGIVENESS of the government and banks in Iceland without commenting. I belong to the majority of citizens that did NOT put themselves into huge mortgage debt during the worldwide financial upswing but stayed put in my situation as an elderly citizen hardly able to survive on my pension. In 2006 I borrowed 7 million IKR to buy my apartment costing 11 million IKR and my 4 million IKR debt constantly increased to 12 million in 2011 as the inflation is constantly calculated into the debt plus 7% interest . Trying to get the 110% justice the heavy lenders got I was flatly refused like most families in the same or similar situation. My 12 million IKR debt was exactly 110% of thee selling price of my apartment! My 4 million IKR was now 12 million and I did not owe one red cent in my apartment I had been paying mortgage on for almost 7 years. The government confiscated everything I had this way. I am only one of thousands of families here in this situation. Only the “COURAGEOUS” heavy borrowers got their huge debt erased.
Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. This story is an insult to thousands of innocent poor, old or sick people in our country. An EVIL propaganda and a LIE.

Paul, I truly feel for you in your situation and I’m not gonna pretend some revolution is going to solve all your problems.
Just like “admin” says… All they need is the idea. They don’t give a damn about the consequences of their “revolution” as long as in the end… The True Democratic Party is in control. The only people that win in a revolution are the leaders of the revolution. Ask France. They have them all the time and nothing ever changes in that country except the ones in charge.
If you’ll notice, while they blame the banks for their bad deeds… they NEVER expect the borrowers who borrowed beyond their capacity to repay. They NEED the anger pointed directly on the banks. Holding EVERYONE accountable would be to hold those who took out loans they knew they couldn’t afford. But that would be distracting from their true goal of gaining power.
The True Democratic Party isn’t out for the little guy. They’re out for power. They see this as a chance to get that power by directing the rage of the little guy against their enemy… those who don’t give them power. Once they get the power, the little guy is in the same position he was before except he’s now under foot of the True Democratic Party.
Happens all over the world. Communism and socialist revolutions are the best at using the rage of the little guy against the current regime. But once in power… the only people it “helped” were those who were leaders in the revolutions. And since they are usually very intolerant as you can judge by reading admin’s comments… if you disagree with them… they are now in power and will destroy you one way or another. Remember, all the socialist/communist revolutions of the last century killed more of their OWN people than they did foreign enemies. And they did so in the name of “revolution”.
There is no need for a revolution. There is a need to hold those accountable who caused the problem. Let the banks fail. Let those who borrowed beyond their means lose what they bought with borrowed money. Prosecute those who broke laws. And vote those into office who stand for individual responsibility and accountability over revolutionary ideals.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what laws are written if people don’t obey the law. Those in power will want to stay in power in ALL forms of govt. Changing a constitution doesn’t change that fact. Doesn’t ANYONE remember Glasnost? Corruption at the highest levels of a govt that nationalized everything and tried to do what the True Democratic Party is trying to do.
Nationalizing a bank does NOT solve the problem. People are greedy at the top and people are greedy at the bottom. A nationalized bank only means that the govt now has MORE control over the people than before. Why would anyone on this planet believe that a nationalized bank under the control of politicians is somehow less corrupt than private banks?
